Alrighty lads, how would you feel if we told you that your suit can make or break the day? Now, don’t get overwhelmed, that’s not what we’re about. We simply want to shine the light on the brilliance of a well-fitting suit that splashes your personality all over your wedding day. Nice, huh?! We think so!

Whilst we have already blogged our Best of 2020: Wedding Cakes, followed by Bridesmaid Parties and Styling Ideas, today we’re sharing the top ten Groom looks of 2020 (according to your clicks, likes and comments throughout the year across our blog, Instagram and Pinterest pages).

This year it’s a real mixed bag. Much like last year, you guys are loving a groom that puts his personality into his on the day styling, whether that be an all-black Oscar Hunt get-up, a pair of Blundstones or a multi-textured M.J. Bale three-piece. Either way, you are feeling individual pizazz, and we like that a lot!

Before we dive in, however, we thought we’d share some additional inspo that we’ve gathered throughout the year with our 10 Cool Looks for the Groom or Groomsman in Your Life and our extra fab M.J. Bale edit here. Thank us later!

Now, enough from us! Right here, in no particular order, are our top ten grooms styles of 2020…

Danni & Brendan, Perth, WA

We do have a very special place in our hearts for grooms in suspenders, and when paired with a linen button up and dried floral boutonniere, well, let’s just say we are content that all is right in the world. Plus, Doc Martens boots on your wedding day is NEVER a bad idea. Head over here to catch the bride’s equally fab get-up. Keen to grab some candid snaps of your groom? Head on over here for more from Alexandra Cohen.

Emily & Stephen, Euroa, VIC

Guys, Oscar Hunt already bring so much joy to our life but when Emily & Stephen’s Country Vic wedding popped into our inbox, we were absolutely taken with this velvet jacket. And who says you can’t wear velvet in the country?! This couple were channelling “inclusive, warm country ambience” and weren’t afraid to bring their high fashion looks outdoors. You can find the rest of their day, alongside Brown Paper Parcel’s snaps, right here. Keen to see more from Oscar Hunt? Be sure to nip on over here for a bunch of real grooms.

Nicole & Damien, Melbourne, VIC

We can tell from Damien’s suit that he is a well-considered gent, and we sure can get behind that. Opting for a three-piece suit, the neutral tones and textured fabrics make it a unique look. Kitted out by the good people at M.J. Bale, we aren’t surprised that this was one of your fave looks of the year. Daniel Milligan Photography also captured the gorgeous bride in Oleg Cassini so do be sure to head on over here for more.

Claire & Dan, Mornington Peninsula, VIC

Another Oscar Hunt clad groom, Dan’s all black everything (suit, shirt and tie!) perfectly complemented Claire’s simple white gown. We think it’s the best kind of get-up to don for a decadent winery wedding. Snapped by Georgia Verrells Photography, you can catch the rest of these cruisey nuptials here and more from the lovely lens lady herself here.

Emily & James, Perth, WA

This is the second time Emily & James’ wedding has featured in our Best of 2020 roundups (peep their cake here) but we sure aren’t surprised, with their woodland theme coming in as a firm favourite amongst you lot. Snagging his suit from the Suit Vault, James’ forest green jacket and taupe bowtie prove that colour is encouraged when it comes to suiting. Head on over here for the rest of Nectarine Photography’s snaps and a golden-hued bridal party.

Rebecca & Danny, Byron Bay, NSW

From this day henceforth, let it be known that we are fiends for a bolo tie (as are you guys!). Danny’s look? We’re all about it. Combine that with a lovely lil’ boutonniere and a sandy suit and you’ve got a winner. Danny nabbed his suit from mister. mister, and the whole shebang worked into the neutral and earthy palette the couple had chosen to complement the rural landscape. The ever lovely Nina Claire Photography was on hand to capture it all, so please do head on over here for more.

Eliza & Josh, Queenstown, NZ

Well, you truly are finding the humble Oscar Hunt groom a little irresistible, friends, and we can’t blame ya. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more classic combo than the blue shirt/navy blue jacket. Teamed with some extra shmancy hiking boots, we approve. But it’s more than the groom you’re going to want to take note of here. These two eloped in Queenstown, so these wedding portraits aren’t just your average. Click here to check out more epic captures from Barefoot & Bearded. You can also find a whole heap of elopements here, here and here if you’re feeling inspired.

Emily & Jacob, Pennyroyal , VIC

Another double offender, Emily & Jacob’s wedding appeared earlier in our 2020 round-ups with their cute cake. But today, it’s all about Jacob’s olive green tweed Oscar Hunt number. With storefronts in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, these guys make fab suits super accessible for east coast grooms. Fun fact: Emily and Jacob actually planned their whole theme and colour scheme around the suit! Head on over here for more snaps from their big day by one of our faves, Miranda Stokkel. If you like what you see, you can find even more from this lovely lady here.

Simone & Josh, Melbourne, VIC

2020 may well be the year of the casual bride and groom and we sure aren’t mad about it. Lovers of Palm Springs and mid-century design, Simone & Josh brought Americana to the fore in their relaxed (but impeccable!) outfit choices. Our fave detail? Josh’s Blundstone boots. This super-fine footwear is the best of the best and we love that you’d be wearing them for years after the big day itself. Fancy a pair? Head on over here. Bonus points for the Akubra! Catch more from this itty bitty wedding (15 guests!), shot by Hailey of One Spoon Two Spoon, right here.

Brigitte & Sam, Sydney, NSW

Rounding out our top ten is Sam’s double-breasted M.J. Bale linen suit. The absolute perfect addition to this duo’s backyard coastal wedding, Sam opted to ditch the bow tie and opt for an open collar. Topping it all off was one of Luca Luna’s ultra-vibrant roses. Bellissimo! Head on over here to squiz the rest of Scott Surplice Photography’s snaps and here to nab this marvellous lens guy for your own big day.
