With this wedding on a family member’s property, Danni and Brendan had freedom to boot! And boy did they use it. They had epic amounts of pampas grass (that they sourced themselves, scouring local swamps and wetlands) and an arbour that dreams are made of. A few hiccups and a pair of torn pants later (all in good fun!) their wedding was exactly what they had dreamed up and one of our fave photographers, Alexandra Cohen, was there to take the pics. Scroll down for more and don’t miss the bride’s wise words of advice, including a few regrets everyone could learn from…

THE VIBE “A more structured bohemian theme. The colours we used were based off the sunset. We also wanted pampas grass to be a centrepiece, along with dry foliage and orchards. We really wanted an outdoor wedding because we spend a lot of time outdoors, and we’re happiest when we’re in nature.”

THE DRESSI knew that I 100% wanted a Rue De Seine gown but didn’t know if I could commit to the cost because it was well over my budget! I asked my best friend how she knew that her dress was ‘the one’ and she replied, “I felt like an absolute QUEEN”. At my Through The White Door appointment, as soon as I tried on the East gown, I knew that was my dress. It fit my curvy body shape to a tee and most definitely did make me feel like an absolute QUEEN. Even though it was well out of my budget, I decided to commit to the dress because of how AMAZING it made me feel. I knew that I would look back on my wedding day and regret my decision if I didn’t take her. To this day I have absolutely no regrets and don’t think ever will.”

LITTLE LOL “One of my bridesmaids was the first one to walk down the aisle and she tripped over the head of a sprinkler! Way to lighten to the mood! Our best man forgot the rings in the car and had to go for a quick run just before the girls were about to walk down the aisle and Bren’s pants tore when he climbed over the barbed wire fence to get to our photoshoot location.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Before planning, go out and buy a wedding planner that details everything you could possibly need 12 months beforehand all the way through to the day before. Decide what you definitely want for your wedding and the things that you can compromise on and work as a team.”

WE WISH WE… “Had our photographer at the reception as well! Didn’t have such a late wedding in the afternoon – we didn’t get enough dancing time. Were more explicit/ specific with what we wanted in regard to music and speaker placement. And didn’t allow friends/ family to congratulate us straight after the ceremony so as to stay on schedule with photography.”

STANDOUT VENDORSBlooms of Eden – she brought extra flowers and made up another full arbour for our reception location. She did such and incredible job at recreating what was in my head into real life even though she couldn’t get her hands on all the blooms she had originally ordered (due to the bushfires in Aus). She truly went above and beyond. And Alexandra Cohen, our photographer! She took so many more photos than she was supposed to and gave them to us for no extra charge. Also, Fish + Bear Co. My maid of honour and her husband Aaron have started their own photography and videography business and a day before our wedding they decided they wanted to make a video of our day as a gift. The end result was amazing! And I have watched it again and again since. It has been a really special way to remember our day.”
