After a dreamy proposal (by the beach in Portugal, no less), this couple tied the knot in North Stradbroke Island- a destination wedding at the groom’s annual family holiday location. “I am also an island baby, having spent some of my childhood on Vanuatu, so Straddie was the obvious choice to celebrate our big day,” adds the bride. THE VENUE “When viewing venues online, we really connected with the open space of the Point Lookout Community Hall as well as the link between the bush and beach. Living in Berlin meant we couldn’t see the venue in person so we did a lot of stalking online of other weddings held there to get an idea of the space.”
THE INSPO “We wanted something simple and modern that connected with gorgeous surroundings. Jeannie from Two Little Rows did an amazing job creating a beautiful space for us. Those florals were divine!”
FAVE DETAILS “Standouts were our invitations – the beautiful textured paper letterpressed with terracotta ink. Erin of Paper / Paper made the whole process with our invitations and event day stationery a dream. 31 Degrees, who made our delicious cake and chocolates. She surprised me by making my favourite freckles to include on the sweets table – it was such a sweet and kind gesture. Jeannie from Two Little Rows did an amazing job creating a beautiful space for us. Those florals were divine! And, of course the setting, the bush with a view of the beach through the trees!”
THE DRESS “My dress was made by Monika Novakova, a designer from Prague living in Berlin. She was amazing to work with and helped shaped the idea of the dress, came fabric shopping with me, changing the design based on the fabric offering and was so lovely with all the ups and downs that can come with a wedding. It was really amazing to share that journey with her – the dress felt so lovely to wear on the day and I know had a lot of love put into the making of it which made it all that more special.”
REFERENCES “We found Two Little Rows, who coordinated, styled and did all the gorgeous florals, through Hello May and she lead us to many of our other key vendors. I had been following Paper / Paper on Instagram and loved Erin’s modern, minimal style.
FAVE MOMENT “When we returned from the photo session, we were announced by the MC. Right as we raised our arms, the power cut out! As we waited for the power to be fixed, Max’s niece Hannah set up with her acoustic guitar in the corner and started singing Elvis Presley – Can’t Help Falling In Love. Before we knew it everyone was singing along in the candlelight. It was an incredible, special moment that we will never forget.”

Two Little Rows handled our ideas and constraints with grace and delivered beautiful styling that fit with the natural beauty of the island and our own aesthetics. She also handled any hitches on the day with ease! Eat Drink Catering did an incredible job with the food. They had to deal with a 20 min blackout and still had us all totally satisfied.”
