Nicole and Damien have got this wedding thing down, guys. First up, they got engaged in arguably the happiest place on earth… Disneyland! And then their jobs were pretty much made for the planning process. “Damien is a project manager and I’m an architect, so we found this to be literally the perfect combo.” Oh, and to them, marriage means “An excuse to get a hundred dogs together! Joking, but definitely lots of dogs!” So basically, they are speaking our language. Oh and then there’s the stunning Oleg Cassini dress and dapper M.J. Bale suit, shirt and tie people. It would have been rude not to share their wedding with you, right? Daniel Milligan Photography was there to get the good shots, so scroll down for all…

THE VENUEWe knew we wanted a unique venue with an outdoor setting, relaxed atmosphere and also allowed dogs. We went to a few places before visiting Emu Bottom Homestead and we instantly fell in love with the place the moment we stepped into the grounds. The intimate, charming, country vibe really resonated with us and there was so much space (and friendly sheep) to entertain our family dog!”

FAVE DETAILSThe floral arrangements and my bouquet was literally the stuff of dreams. Thistle Flower Studio did such a beautiful job with our brief. The setup for the outdoor ceremony and reception also came together so well and the soft light from all the candles, lanterns and festoon lights bathed everything is a surreal glow when the sun went down.”

DIYThe wedding was one big DIY project for us which gave us a lot of freedom to design and execute our vision. Nicole designed the invitations and signage (from the welcome sign to the seating charts and place cards). For the decorations, we brought rugs and textiles from our home to add texture, our mate brought along timber logs to line the aisle and our family and friends came together to help set up the table arrangements, candles, lanterns, fairy lights and even the installation of stars above the dance floor.”

THE DRESSI wanted something playful and whimsical but couldn’t quite find the right dress until I saw this Oleg Cassini number online. Conveniently, they were opening a boutique in Melbourne and I managed to book one of their first appointments.”

REFERENCESHello May was our #1 source!”

MEMORABLE MOMENTA sweet moment for me was when Damien got up on stage after our first dance and sang ‘It Runs Through Me’ by Tom Misch with the band. It was such a romantic surprise!”

WE’RE GLAD WE…Did our first look. It was one of those really special, emotional moments between just the two of us.”

COOL CUSTOM “We decided to incorporate a tea ceremony to pay homage to Nicole’s Malaysian heritage and involve some of her family members who travelled from overseas.”
