These two cute thangs met four years ago, halfway across the world in Düsseldorf. Kicking it off as friends, it wasn’t until Jacqueline nipped off to New Zealand that the duo realised things were a bit more serious. We are practically weeping with this sweet groom’s musing, “I knew that I had to visit her and tell her that I love her.” Sweetness incarnate, right?! When it came to the big day itself, Jaqueline and Jonathon opted for a super low key elopement in the very same country that initially sealed the deal. One of our fave New Zealand lens ladies Meredith Lord Photography was on hand to capture the whole shebang. Scroll down for details and snaps…

THE VENUE “We didn’t have a specific spot on Te Mata Peak planned, we just knew we wanted to have our ceremony up there because it has such special meaning to us and our relationship. In the end, Meredith (our photographer) suggested a spot tucked away in amongst some gum trees off a walking track. Jonathan went up before me and set up our little ceremony spot with the wine boxes and cake. That evening we had our celebration dinner at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers without seeing it beforehand. It was a stunning setting and a perfect ending for such a special day.”

DIY “Yes, our reception picnic was DIY. We organized wine boxes from a nearby winery, Te Mata Estate, to use as tables and packed cute rustic/natural packages with wooden plates, cutlery and napkins.”

THE DRESS “The dress was made by my mum. I spent a long time looking for inspiration via Pinterest. I wanted something unusual and easy to wear for an outdoor elopement. I also looked up some online shops and tried on some pieces but I was never happy. One day I found a picture of a combination of trousers with a train and lace elements. I totally loved it but didn´t know where I could buy it. I told my mum about it and she said: “No worries Jacqueline, I will stitch your outfit.”

LITTLE LOL “We got ready at the same place with just one bathroom, so it was quite a challenge not seeing each other before the ceremony! We were running around like “I´m coming through the kitchen, ok?” “Ok, I’m just heading to the living room.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Guys, elope! Best decision ever!”

STANDOUT VENDORMeredith Lord – she gave us a lot of advice and recommendations besides her great service. In general, she took a lot of her time to help us and to perform her services very carefully.”
