Yesterday we kicked off our end of year round-ups with our Best of 2020 Wedding Cakes post, and today we’re all about the bridal parties, people!
According to your clicks, likes and comments throughout the year (across our blog, Instagram and Pinterest pages), photos of bridal parties are our most liked. Largely because they are usually bursting with joy, but also because they are typically jam-packed with inspo from bridesmaids dresses to flowers, shoes, accessories and more. Last years list was all about silk slips, and we can see that you guys are still big fans so this year, you’ll be finding a heap of the silky stuff with a good splash of mismatched. We even have a few super casual bridal parties thrown in for all you low-key lovers. We’re loving seeing bride’s embrace a cruisey approach to the big day that sees their maids responsible for their individual get-ups.
Got your bridal party brain switched on? Head on over here whilst you’re at it to catch our recent round-up of Top 25 Wedding & Bridal Party Gifts. Also, be sure to check out one of our fave bridesmaid gown brands of all time, Friend of Audrey, here.
Enough from us! Get that group chat ready because right here, in no particular order, are our top ten bridal party looks of 2020…
Lara & Guy, Southern Highlands, NSWLara & Guy’s Southern Highlands wedding was the kind of dreamy affair you can’t help but adore. A sun-dappled portrait sesh, Blaise Bell Photography behind the lens and a reception right in the middle of a book store. Seriously, guys, it has it all. Take a look for yourself here. You will even find the couple’s adorable chocolate lab making an appearance. As for these bridesmaid gowns, the bride picked them up from Bec + Bridge with the whole tribe rocking the most delicious shade of deep blue. Fancy taking a squiz at more from Blaise Bell? This way, please.
There is no way these spotty numbers weren’t making the list seeings you guys showed your love in such a big way over on the gram. These Silk Laundry slips speak to our polka dot loving hearts and are the perfect addition for shaking things up and injecting a fun vibe for your gals. We’re also crushing pretty hard on the bride’s A La Robe gown that she picked up from one of our fave Sydney boutiques, Hope X Page. Head over here to catch more snaps from Carla & Adam’s nuptials from Lucking Photography. Perth-based vendors you’re after? Click here for a whole heap.
Andrea & Dale, Hunter Valley, NSWAndrea & Dale described their wedding as “a wine weekend where we got married in the middle” and yep, they emanated some pretty relaxed vibes. With a springtime chill still in the air, Andrea’s maids opted for a range of long-sleeved gowns and jumpsuits of varying patterns and colours. Andrea shares, “My bridesmaids were the absolute best. I wanted them to pick their own outfits because I really love their individual styles. I just showed them my dress and the venue and they did they curated their own distinct yet complementary look.” How good! A mix of Shona Joy, We Are Kindred and MISHA, you can find more details and pics from the day, as captured by HM fave Miko of Tones & Harmony, here. Keen to peep more of this lens legend’s work? Head on over here.
Burnt orange – every shade, every way, we’re obsessed. This sweet bevy of golden-hued gowns is our mismatched bridal party dream (Sass & Bide, Bec + Bridge, Shona Joy & Zimmermann FYI). We’re also a bit sneakily obsessed with Emily’s KHYA gown which she nabbed from Love Marie Bridal Boutique. Best of all, we’re here to tell you that the rest of the day was equally fab and you can find more pics from legend Damien Milan right here. If you’re as big of a fan of Damien as we are, you can catch more real weddings he has shot here and here.
Perin & David, Byron Bay, NSWAn all cream colour palette with pops of dried florals can do no wrong in our eyes, and we totally agree with you guys on this one! Serving pristine looks, Perin’s three maids were decked out in Bec + Bridge which complemented the bride’s divine L’eto Bridal gown to a T. The sunset portraits are more than a bit spesh so do be sure to head over here to take a look at Ephemeral Creative’s snaps. You can catch a whole heap more from these guys here, too.
Crystal & Toby, Southern Highlands, NSW
Again, another of our fave shades is making an appearance in this here list with Crystal’s emerald-clad maids. Snagged from Shona Joy, these sleek numbers well and truly complemented the “lush garden party” vibes the couple were aiming for. Our fun-lovin’ office bud Kristie Carrick Photography snapped up a storm and you’re set to enjoy details galore if you head on over this way. She’s also snapped a few other lovely bits and bobs which you can find here.
Lucy & Matt, Myponga, SALucy & Matt chose to focus their day around eating, drinking and merriment. Sounds like a dream, eh? Well, so is the bride and groom’s casual approach to attire. Proving that casual is well and truly classy, Lucy herself opted for a short gown whilst her maids rocked a combo of ASOS, Rowie, COS & Girl and the Sun. Keen to see more? Head over here for more from the wonderful The Salty Shutter.
Lauren & Jeremy, Toolangi, VIC
Whilst our favourite thing about these pics is the bridesmaids exuding sass in spades, the colour of their jewel-toned gowns is a hot second. Another mismatched fantasy, the girls nabbed their gowns from Bronte, Bec + Bridge, Seed, Zara, Country Road, ASOS and The Iconic. There are one-shouldered numbers, some sleeves and even some ruffles to be had whilst the sunset hues are featured in the blooms, too. Just wait until you catch the field of foxgloves Lauren & Jeremy had their portraits in, captured by the talented Hailey of One Spoon Two Spoon. Peek another of her big days here.
Laura & Jordan, Noosa, QLDWith the intention to have “one big party under the stars on a balmy afternoon”, Laura’s gal pals were in need of gowns that would allow for a few d-floor moments. We are big fans of the colour and style mismatch in soft tones of beige, keeping the coastal/country dreamscape alive. A mixture of Bec + Bridge, We are Kindred, The Line by K and Love Shack Fancy, we particularly love the textural variances. Need we bring to your attention the bride’s KHYA gown which she scored from Sphere Bridal Gallery? Not the type of bride that knew exactly what she wanted, Laura was stoked with her experience sharing, “Sarah was so warm and honest and made me feel like she had all the time in the world for me”. With Shane Shepherd Photography behind the lens, you’re going to want to see more (which you can find here). Stilllll want more? Head here for more real wedding from this talented lad.
You guys also loved hardcore on Bree’s deep red theme (and Tilly Clifford Photography’s snaps) so we’re glad this mix of gowns snagged a place. Another fab combo, the gals were wearing a mixture of Camilla and Marc, Bec + Bridge, ASOS & Sheike. P.s. We’re loving the mismatched shoes too! Popping against their gowns were the mulberry and candy red bouquets put together by one of our fave florists Mable & Elsi. You can check out the bride and groom’s sweet ice cream parlour portraits here and peek more from Tilly Clifford Photography here.
