Proving distance makes the heart grow fonder, these two are both fly-in, fly-out workers, who spend weeks apart, but then weeks together and have been going strong for six years now. As you can see, they tied the knot in one darn fine wedding at a glorious winery in the Hunter Valley and lucky for us, behind the camera was the talented Tones & Harmony bringing us their love story. THE PROPOSAL “We were on a weekend ski trip at Perisher with some friends. That morning Dale snuck out while I showered and hid a bottle of sparkling Shiraz (my fave) in the snow out the back of our cabin. After a long day of skiing, he somehow convinced me to go looking for wombats out the back… then he dropped his knee and popped the question.”
THE VENUE “Our amazing wedding planner, Kelly, of Little Miss Party Planner found Squires Vineyard for us. We loved that it felt so secluded and there was lots of outdoor space. It was a blank space so we could choose our own styling, catering and drinks and the accommodation attached was beautiful. The personalised service from the owners, Natalie and Andrew was amazing. They gave advice on vendors then communicated and coordinated them leading up to the day. They also provided the most beautiful styling and furnishings for the ceremony, reception and after-party.”
THE VIBE “Was a wine weekend where we got married in the middle of it. We wanted our family and friends to be there long enough to relax and enjoy a few days away from life.”
FAVE DETAILS “My bridesmaid’s dresses. I loved that they all wore something that was so characteristically them but still managed to look so complimentary. One of the groomsmen said they looked like “businesswomen from heaven” and I agree. Also, the music. I found Nick Saxon through a recommendation and his beautiful voice and guitar playing was perfect for the ceremony and pre-reception activities.”
THE DRESS “I found the Cassandra Renee Aries dress on Instagram. It just popped up one day and I loved it. It was completely different to anything I had tried on and was the right mix of sexy and beautiful. I emailed Cassandra and she said she would be able to squeeze my order in, so I flew down to Melbourne and she measured me up. Within 10 weeks, she had made my stunning wedding gown and it was delivered right to my door.”
WE WISH WE… “Got two people to do my bridesmaids’ and my hair and makeup. One person doing four people means loads of time getting ready.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Our photographer, Miko (of Tones & Harmony). We loved his candid photography and ability to take natural shots. Dale and I are not exactly photogenic, but Miko was really great at making us feel comfortable in front of the camera (instead of just wildly grinning) and he provided direction for our hand and body placement to take some amazing shots. Also, our celebrant, Bae By Steph. Her warm, light-hearted style was filled with sincerity. She created a ceremony that mirrored the exact style with her own personal flair. Everything about the service was personalised and special.”
