Say hi to Carla and Adam, dear readers. They got engaged, then married three years later, welcoming their little boy, Alfie, into the world in between. However, in the lead up to their big day, the “storm of the year” came knocking. “We held out as long as we could but decided the day before our wedding to make the call to change our ceremony venue from some local gardens to Fridays Studio.” Proving things happen for a reason, the bride adds, “When we got there we could not believe how perfect the space was! So much better than our original idea. Thank god for the rain!” Wearing a gorgeous gown from one of our go-to Sydney bridal boutiques, Hope X Page, and shot by Lucking Photography, you won’t want to miss this one…

THE VENUE “We had always spoken about wanting to have a big party for our wedding reception. Our good friends had recently opened a pizzeria called Rossonero. A very cool space knocking out the BEST wood-fired pizzas in Perth. So we did not even look at any other venues. We knew as soon as we went there we could not think of a better place to celebrate and party.”

FAVE DETAILS “Our invites were very special to us, as our talented friends KS designs designed them. It was lovely to have something so personal to send out. Also my polka dot veil from Lola Varma. I fell in love with it, then found the perfect bridesmaid dresses to match the polka dots and loved those dresses on my beautiful besties. Our DJ, Mitch, was incredible. We left the music completely up to him and he knocked out beat after beat that made it impossible to leave the dance floor!”

THE DRESS “I had seen it on Instagram a few years back and had loved it. After looking around a bit I came back to it, however, the only stockist in Australia is Hope X Page in Sydney. I ended up ordering the dress through them without trying it on and prayed it would suit me and fit! Luckily I absolutely loved it and only needed minor alterations. The quality of the French silk and cut of the low back was perfection.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “I had always imagined my favourite part of the day would be the reception where we could let loose with our friends and have a great party, however looking back I was absolutely blown away with the ceremony.  I could not have prepared myself for the incredible vibe as I walked down that aisle. Seeing Adam’s grinning face and my little boy’s excitement would have been enough but also the venue was set up absolutely beautifully and having all of our family and friends there to witness our moment was so incredibly special.”

MARRIAGE MEANS… “I was never the little girl that longed for a big white wedding or to be a wife. Adam and I had discussed not getting married and living in sin and were both ok with that haha. However the day we got engaged I felt that little bit closer to him and felt that we were about to commit even further. I also liked the idea of having the same surname as my children. Now that we are married not a lot has changed in our relationship however we still have a laugh and a giggle calling each other ‘husband’ and ‘wife’.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Choose vendors you connect with and ones that make it easy for you. Whatever jobs you can afford to pay someone else to do then do it. Don’t leave too much for you both to do on the day.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Went to a little bar down the road from Fridays to have a drink with our bridal party in between the ceremony and reception. It was so nice to relax in between and have a quick special moment to celebrate with just our besties. We got some awesome pics here too!”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Our friends and owners of our reception venue Rossonero, went above and beyond to make our wedding incredible. Our photographer, Michelle (of Lucking Photography) was fantastic. She is the most lovely, approachable person and made us all feel so comfortable. And her photos speak for themselves. My florist Beth (of The Flour Shop) could not have been more helpful and even took down the gorgeous arbour from the ceremony and brought it to the reception where she recreated another stunning installation. And Matthew (Studio Lillet), my hairdresser and Erin Maie, my makeup artist, were also so talented and accommodating.”
