What is it with Halloween parties?! They sure seem to be a hot spot for husband/wife acquiring. Six years ago, a young med student, Kathryn, pushed her way through a crowded party, past the guy dressed as a cube, to an extravagantly dressed robot. Kathryn and the robot got on so well that they decided to tie the knot. That’s how we ended up with piccies of this lush day, all thanks to an excellent swathe of vendors. Best of all, we’ve got details! The Wedding and Event Creators and South Coast Party Hire got busy jazzing up the historic Berry Courthouse whilst Luca Luna sorted bouquets. Grew & Co were on rings, Meadowlark on earbobs and The Gelato Bike handed out frozen treats. Best of all, Damien Milan Photography snapped up a storm. FAVOURITE DETAILS “The caterer packed us a little picnic basket to enjoy as we went off exploring some gardens in Berry with Damien and Anastasia, which I thought was an incredibly thoughtful touch! I also loved having gelato [The Gelato Bike] to end the night on. We had kept that a surprise on the day and the photos of everyone enjoying their ice creams with childlike delight are some of my favourites!”

REFERENCES “Hello May was obviously helpful in gaining an idea of what we did and didn’t want – and that’s how I found Lola Varma!”

DIY “I outsourced a lot to Simon’s mum. She helped organise our helpers who we collectively referred to as the Berry Brigade. The Berry Brigade helped out with organising flowers (including trips up to the flower markets), wedding favours, and setting up the hall and garden in the lead up to the wedding. We couldn’t have pulled it off without them! We also called on members of the Berry Brigade for lovely places to shoot some of our photos, and they really came through – the bougainvillea and rose bush was amazing!”

WE’RE GLAD WE “I’m really glad we stretched it out and joined everyone for a casual dinner on the Friday in addition to a Sunday brunch. I felt we definitely maximised time spent with them and dragged out our celebrations!”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Grew & Co were fabulous. I had no idea what I wanted when we turned up on their doorstep but I have ended up with rings better than I could have dreamed! They were so flexible in using the old mine cut diamonds from my mother’s rings and really used them perfectly to showcase the new stones added in. I feel very lucky! Simon wasn’t so sure about having a wedding band either and their flexibility in metals (he chose tantalum & white gold) really suited his taste. Our photographers, Damien and Anastasia, were also amazing. My favourite photo of Simon and me, prior to all of our wedding ones, was taken by them at a friend’s wedding in 2016 and takes pride of place over our fireplace. I asked for the recommendation and sent my first enquiry their way, which luckily worked out. The first time they met us, Simon was missing a front tooth and they were still happy to work with us, so we knew were on to a good thing! They were amazing in the lead-up, helping us plan the timing of the day, and made both of us novices feel comfortable in front of their cameras which was no mean feat.”
