As far as romantic proposals go, sweet words whispered beachside will always have a place in our hearts. Perin & David’s engagement was even more spesh, with the couple having no phone reception for a few days post-proposal, meaning they got to hold their special news close to their hearts for a little while longer. When it came to the big day itself, however, it was all about sharing good times with friends and fam. Tasty morsels and rad tunes (shoutout to Baker Boys Band!) were at the top of the priority list. Oh and pristine pics! For that, you have Ephemeral Creative to thank. So, scroll down for the goods…

FAVOURITE DETAILS “We loved having personal touches on the day. The rug we were married on was one we had bought while travelling in Morocco a couple of years ago and it normally lives on the floor in our bedroom. Also, seeing the dried flowers I had put together at the reception made it feel like we’d brought a part of us to the day.”

DIY “Once I decided to go down the dried flower route, I knew I wanted to create some of my own arrangements. Everything for the ceremony was done by Gather in Currumbin, but all the table arrangements at cocktail hour and the reception were done by me. There were even a couple of my own ceramic vases that I had made spotted around. A couple of early morning trips to the flower markets and turning our one-bedroom apartment into a dried flower production line was a little testing on Dave’s patience, but he held it together. It was a good way to make a little saving on the budget and I really enjoy hands-on creating.”

THE DRESS “Shortly after our engagement, one of my bridesmaids bought me a copy of Hello May and I instantly fell in love with the soft flowing skirt and romantic embroidery of L’eto Bridal Piece 1 featured in the magazine. It took me about a year to finally go and try it on in at L’eto’s Newport showroom and after that, I only ever really had eyes for one dress. Dealing with Anya directly was a pleasure, she is so warm, honest and talented at what she does.”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “I chose to walk myself down the aisle. I really thought I was going to be an emotional wreck the entire ceremony but when it came down to it, I was overwhelmingly excited and calm. Soaking in the walk from the kombi, down the avenue of trees, through all our guests, greeting both my parents at the end of the aisle and then finally locking eyes with David was magical.”

A TOUCH OF TRADITION “I’m half Chinese and wanted to find a way to incorporate a touch of red into the day as a little nod to my heritage. At first, it started with just tracking down a pair of the Comme des Garcon x Converse sneakers and then I found the Sass & Bide red stripe dress and couldn’t resist.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “We put in a bit of time early on researching vendors, and we booked most of them with plenty of time, which meant we had the luxury of choice. Working with people we were confident in meant we could go into the day just focusing on us and our guests and not have to worry about the details. My mantra was always that as long as we’re married by the end of the day, everything else is a bonus.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “A big shout out to Trent and Jessie of Ephemeral Creative, such a talented duo! Their approach comes across as so calm and relaxed, and it put everyone at ease in front of the camera with stunning results.”
