Despite being engaged for over a year and a half, Claire and Dan jumped on the chance to include family visiting from overseas, which meant planning their big day in just two months. One cruisey as heck Summer winery wedding ensured. Impressive, huh? Well, it gets better. At the time of their engagement, Claire was working at one of our fave jewellery designers Cushla Whiting and, right under her nose, Dan and the team organised a custom made engagement ring. The duo also enlisted the skills of Oscar Hunt Tailors for Dan’s suit and superstar Georgia Verrells Photography to capture the good times. Scroll down for a proper peek…

FAVOURITE DETAILS “Dan’s sister Ebony surprised us with an incredible black red velvet cake by Miss Ladybird Cakes. She organised for our florist, Peninsula Wildflower, to create a cake topper comprising an arrangement of native flowers. Both the gesture and the outcome were so special.”

DIY “Dan and I have a 3D printer and decided to take advantage of this when creating our wedding invitations. We printed out black and white jackalope figurines and rolled up the invitations so that they sat within their antlers. Our guests received their invitations in white cardboard boxes.”

THE DRESS “I worked for Scanlan Theodore as a retail associate, close to a decade ago now, and have consistently loved and worn their garments. When it came to deciding on a dress, I really didn’t want a traditional wedding dress. Initially, I was against the idea of wearing white as a bride, however, I decided to in the end. As someone who always wears black, a white dress was a stark contrast to my everyday attire. The dress itself was constructed from fine knitted fabric, was mid-length with pleats and had a low back.”

REFERENCES “We found our photographer, Georgia Verrells, online at Hello May. We were drawn to how natural and authentic her photos were. On the day, she made everyone feel at ease and impressed us with her hard work, organisation, and vivacity. We love our wedding photos.”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “The evening prior, Dan and I stayed at one of the Lairs at Jackalope Hotel. We checked in at around 3 pm and headed down to the infinity pool where we swam, enjoyed drinks, added finishing touches to our speeches and relaxed by ourselves in the lead-up to the wedding day. After a few hectic months, having that time to regroup was valuable.”

WE’RE GLAD WE “Dan and I chose to have an evening ceremony and it was just as well we did because it was 40 degrees that day! By the time our ceremony began, it had cooled down a little and the lighting was magical during the reception. It was so much fun to stay at the venue the night before and after the wedding. Having that extra time just by ourselves was something we really appreciated.”
