Today we are more than a smidge stoked to be bringing you Madi & Michael’s sunset toned day full of sweet details and big smiles. Together for three years, these two personally sourced each and every one of their rad vendors and the hard work shows. Laurel & Lace were responsible for this beauty of a bouquet, dripping in flannel flowers, whilst the Groom donned not one but two of our fave suit brands, Joe Black and M.J. Bale. As for pics? THE VIBE “The theme was very natural, using earthy tones like rust, cream, blush, and gold. When people asked about the theme I described it as “rustic-boho-chic”, and I’m honestly still not sure what that means, but I know that I was incredibly happy with the final product. I did a lot of the styling and sourcing of products on my own, which was a big effort, but I’m really proud of it. Our lovely florist Lauren, from Laurel and Lace, did an incredible job of taking my very open-ended, vague idea of flowers and making it into something that fit perfectly.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “Overall, the whole day turned out better than I could have imagined. All of the styling and ideas that I had only ever seen in my head came together perfectly. I loved the table design, the cheesecloth runners, the candles, the napkins, the acrylic name tags and the handcrafted plates and cutlery from Pialligo complimented each other so well, and really captured the minimalist look I was aiming for.”
A TOUCH OF TRADITION “I wore my Nanna’s engagement ring, which I guess you could say was my something old, but it was really special to be wearing something she too wore on her wedding day. I also got to wear perfume from my Nanny who passed away in 2012. We saved a bottle of her favourite Dior perfume and it was so special to have a part of her so close to me on our wedding day.”
LITTLE LOL “We are definitely not a very serious couple, which naturally meant that our entire day was light-hearted and full of laughs. One especially big laugh we had together was when trying to figure out how to drive our wedding car. We wanted to save money wherever we could, so when my mum’s boss offered us his Jag to use, we were stoked! Of course, Michael was super keen to be the one driving it, so we both sat in the front together. However, we were less stoked when we went to drive it away after our ceremony and realised halfway down the highway that the side mirrors were folded in and we had literally no idea how to get them back out.”
WE’RE GLAD WE “We had what we would consider a relatively small wedding. We set our limit to 85 and stuck to it perfectly. I am so glad we did this – it truly felt like the perfect amount! We are also so glad to have not taken the whole thing too seriously on the day. Laughs were had in abundance and that made everything so much better.”
