Well, have we got a treat for you this morning, dear readers. One backyard wedding coming in hot! Brigitte and Sam are all about good food and sweet tunes, and where better to get down and boogie but in mum and dad’s backyard? With a dream team of vendors in attendance, this backyard wedding needs to be seen to be believed. Luca Luna went wild with the roses, South Coast Party Hire served up props and lights, and Larsen Jewellery were on rings. The groom was kitted out by our friends over at M.J. Bale whilst Scott Surplice Photography and John Kurt were snapping and recording every moment, all with their signature brand of chill. Enough from us, scroll down to see for yourself…
THE VENUE “When we started planning our wedding, we knew we didn’t want to go with a traditional sit-down style reception, and this really influenced our choice in venue. After struggling to decide on a Sydney venue, it finally dawned on us that my family home on the south coast would be the perfect setting. The property was undergoing quite a big renovation at the time, so we planned around that, and had our fingers crossed it would be ready in time! It felt right having it at home, and it meant we had full control over the look and feel and we could create something bespoke.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “We absolutely adored the flowers! The colour palette and style of florals was exactly what we wanted. The team at Luca Luna did an incredible job creating WOW factor. We wanted statement flowers, and we got them! They also created a really beautiful bouquet, buttonholes, and corsages for our Mothers, all which tied in with the theme and flowers we used in the arbour.”
FAVOURITE MOMENT “Our favourite moment was during the photos. We had toyed with the idea of trying to get a shot in the middle of the road on the famous Sea Cliff Bridge, but we were hesitant given that there is generally a lot of traffic, especially in the middle of summer. Nonetheless, we were determined to give it a go! So, off we went champagne in hand, scaling the side of the road and waiting for our moment. We got lucky with a decent break in traffic so we took our chance and we ran for it. We’re so glad we did as the photos were epic! It was a really exhilarating moment for us and we were on a high afterwards. We got the shot!”
LITTLE LOL “Our alcohol had been delivered the day before the wedding, and in amongst the chaos of trying to get the house ready we put it straight into the cool room and didn’t check the order (rookie error!). It wasn’t until the ceremony had finished and the bar was up and running that we realised the most important part of our order was missing – our favourite rose! This meant recruiting two family friends to do a quick bottle-o run for us so that we had enough wine for our very thirsty guests!”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Without a doubt our photographer, Scott Surplice, and our videographer, John Kurt. Both are super professional, but also lovely and approachable people. They were also lots of fun and a pleasure to spend our day with! It was really important to us that we let them do their own thing – we didn’t want to dictate too much how they should capture the day as we trusted them both creatively, and wanted them to feel free to bring our wedding to life in their own unique way. We’re so glad we did! They both captured the essence of our day so beautifully and we were blown away by our photos and wedding video. Our wedding day was amazing (and all our suppliers played a part in that) but thanks to Scott and John, we have some incredible memories to look back on.”
