Luca and Joel are a low-key kinda couple – so low-key, in fact, that they were never actually dating before they tied the knot! “We met in March 2016… But I’m not sure if we ever became “official” before getting engaged,” laughs Luca. “I’m still waiting for Joel to ask me to be his girlfriend…” Nevertheless, he popped the question in September 2018 “at home, with flowers and balloons”, in the couple’s signature relaxed fashion.
A bunch of awesome vendors helped bring the vibes, with big shoutouts to Festoon on that epic lighting design – and we can’t get enough of Luca’s Karen Willis Holmes gown and Joel’s M.J. THE VENUE “We both liked the idea of a marquee outside and fell in love with Lamont’s Bishops House as soon as we saw it. It was the first and last venue we visited. We paid our deposit on the spot, much to the shock of [events manager] Matthew!”
FAVE DETAILS “All of our vendors came together SO well and we are so happy with how everything turned out. We had a singer Ricky Green Music for the pre-drinks whilst we were off having photos. We loved that he broke the afternoon up, from chilled pre-drink vibes to party vibes when DJ Yon Jovi kicked in.”
THE DRESS “I got my dress from Karen Willis Holmes. Much to my surprise (I am quite indecisive, or ‘picky’ if you ask Joel), I found it on the first day of wedding dress shopping. I went with their bespoke collection and chose a bodice and skirt. I ended up further altering it and added sleeves to give it that little bit extra.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “We did a first look between COMO The Treasury and Department of Justice (hehe). We’re both not too big on being the centre of attention, so it was nice to have a moment to ourselves. We were lucky enough to get a couple of photos in before security stomped his way over to move us on… not before getting an earful in French from our photographer, Alexandra Cohen. Memorable in many ways lol!”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Our photographers, Alexandra Cohen, and videographer, Orriss Films. Alex had her music pumping for some good vibes whilst we were doing our portrait shoots. They all made us feel super comfortable – we’re not too keen on getting our photo taken and are a little awkward in front of the camera but you can’t tell from their work – YAY!”
