Millie and Dan at their Wildwood Kangaroo Valley wedding surrounded by Australian bushland

Doing life together for 15 years, with forever still to come, Millie and Dan exchanged vows in NSW’s iconic Kangaroo Valley. Their picture-perfect venue Wildwood “felt right straight away,” they shared, and made the planning process feel “so easy”. “Dan and I love nature, it is in the most beautiful Australian bush, it’s very presentable but not too manicured.” To bring the day together, the couple also enlisted Bacchus Celebrations to lead celebrant duties (excellent pick in our opinion) and Shane Shepherd to capture the magic on camera.

Millie looked etherial in vintage bridal, while Dan brought an effortlessly cool energy in earthy-toned M.J. Bale. The reception space was adorned in rows of lush eucalyptus, complementing the natural backdrop, and the view? Beyond words. But more than anything, for this couple, it was really came down to creating an atmosphere that felt relaxed where they, along with their 75 loved ones, could be fully present and soak up every moment.

An abundance of refined rustic wedding inspiratiom below, as well as our chat with the new Mr and Mrs…

EFFORTLESSLY EASY-GOING WEDDING DAY VIBES

“Our biggest inspiration was simply staying true to who we are. We didn’t want the day to feel overly styled or pressured to be perfect—instead, we focused on creating a relaxed, easy atmosphere where everyone could just be present and enjoy themselves. The overall vibe was fun, candid, and effortlessly natural—in the best way—lots of laughter, genuine moments, and just letting the day unfold rather than trying to control every detail.”

“We had my godfather, who is an art director, create our welcome sign — it was a beautiful caricature of Dan and me with our dogs. We asked all of our guests to sign it and leave messages, which made it such a special keepsake. I also absolutely loved our table settings. Wildwood is already such a stunning venue, but our florist Kirby Wattlewood Floral brought the outdoors in, creating the most beautiful, natural feel at each table.”

UNCONVENTIONAL BRIDAL: MILLIE’S VINTAGE WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING JOURNEY

“I knew from the beginning that I wanted a vintage dress, something truly unique with beautiful fabric and a story behind it. I spent a lot of time searching everywhere, trying to find something that felt just right. When I met Grace at Art Garments, she completely understood my brief, and incredibly, this was the very first dress she showed me. The whole experience felt so easy and special after that. Grace is so passionate about vintage bridal and an absolute delight to work with, which made the process even more memorable. It ended up being everything I had been looking for, without the stress I’d expected.”

MAGICAL MOMENTS

“The whole day and weekend felt like pure magic. I loved getting ready with my best friends, my mum, and my sister – we had brunch, sipped champagne, and danced around Wildwood House. There was no stress on the day at all; I was just surrounded by so much love and such beautiful, happy energy.”

MARRIAGE MEANS…

“Marriage feels like doing life with your best friend. It’s having a true teammate. someone who always has your back. It’s about enjoying life together, not taking things too seriously, and finding ways to make even the most ordinary days feel special.”

Wildwood made the whole planning process so easy for us. They provided a list of their preferred vendors, and every single one delivered. The Wildwood team truly went above and beyond, and The Hungry Monkey’s food was exceptional – we still have friends saying it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had.”
