Tell us about The Bloom Folk – what’s your wedding floral style and what sets your work apart?

The Bloom Folk has always been about creating florals that feel considered, romantic and really connected to the overall space that the couple has chosen.

Style-wise, I’d say we sit in that beautiful zone of luxe and modern. I’m drawn to layered textures and fun colour palettes that feel intentional but still effortless. Every wedding takes on its own personality, which is honestly my favourite part. Beyond the flowers, I think our couples are really investing in the experience. I’m a big believer in good old-fashioned customer service (which feels a little rare these days), and making sure they feel supported, heard and genuinely excited throughout the whole process. I’m always encouraging them to do what feels right for them, whether that’s including something sentimental, a little different, or just because they love it.

There are so many incredibly talented florists out there, but I think what really sets us apart is how we bring everything together. We offer florals, styling and signage, and we’re there on the day to manage it all. From bump in, to repurposing and pack down we are there so it feels seamless from start to finish. My couples place a lot of trust in me to just run with things, and that’s usually where the magic happens. Trust = magic.

How to Choose a Wedding Florist – What kinds of floral services do you offer couples on their wedding day?

We’re there from start to finish. That includes bump-in, styling all floral elements across the ceremony and reception, and then returning later in the day to repurpose arrangements so everything continues to feel cohesive as the celebration unfolds. We also provide signage and styling elements, which allows us to tie everything together visually so nothing feels disjointed. A big part of what we do on the day is simply making sure everything feels calm, considered and taken care of. We’re a very hands-on team, and I really value getting to watch the space transform, and seeing all the little design decisions start to feel alive in the room.

We always get asked… ‘when should I book a florist for my wedding’?

I usually recommend reaching out around 12 months in advance, especially if they have a specific date or if its peak wedding season (September-November or February-May) as those months tend to book quite quickly. That said, we absolutely do take last-minute bookings when availability allows. Winter weddings in particular are often booked around six–10 months out. I always encourage couples to reach out regardless of timing – it’s always worth asking.

How to plan a wedding in Australia – How do you work with couples to bring their vision to life through florals?

One of my favourite parts of working with couples at the beginning of their planning journey is helping them step back from thinking too literally about individual flower choices, and instead focus on the overall feeling they want their space to have. On our enquiry calls, I’ll often encourage couples to describe how they want the day to feel and how they envision their guests experiencing the space, rather than getting too caught up in specific designs straight away. Once we understand that, I can guide them towards floral directions that create impact and can also be reimagined and moved throughout the day.

Colour palette is always part of the conversation, but I do find it often evolves as the planning unfolds, especially once things like bridesmaid dress colours and styling details come into play. They trust our eye, and I love that we get to take that trust and have a bit of creative fun with it.

Our journey begins with a Couples Wishlist questionnaire, which we send through before booking in a consultation call. It’s always such a lovely starting point where couples can share their ideas, their venue, and the feeling they’re hoping their day will hold before we even chat directly. Some couples come in with a really clear vision, and others will openly say, “I have no idea – you’re the expert!” and I honestly love both equally. There’s something really special about being trusted to help shape that from the ground up, or gently refine something that’s already taking form. I’m personally hands-on with every wedding and act as the lead creative for all of our couples, so they always know who they’re building that trust with from the very beginning right through to the wedding day itself.

Favourite flowers or designs to incorporate?

I’m naturally drawn to designs that feel layered and textural, but I also love en masse simplicity. I think that the season and what we have to play with plays a big part in that – it really guides what feels right and what we have to work with at any given time, which I actually love leaning into rather than fighting against. I’m definitely a colour lover at heart, and I still do a little happy dance when we receive an enquiry that allows for something bold, fun and beautiful. Sunset-inspired palettes are probably my personal favourite if I had to choose (which is exactly what I had for my own wedding florals). I can’t choose a favourite flower on the record haha. There are so many that are really special to me for nostalgic reasons though like Iris, gardenias and sweetpeas. I can often be found in the studio whispering to flowers that they are my favourite though haha.

What are some of your favourite moments to witness on a wedding day as a florist?

There are so many little moments I love on a wedding day, but I do have two that really stand out for me and that I always look forward to.

The first is probably also the most nerve-wracking – the wedding bouquet reveal. Seeing a bride when she sees her bouquet for the first time, and knowing she loves it (and sometimes there are tears), just sets the tone for the entire day. It’s such a small moment, but it holds so much emotion.

Where are you based, and do you travel for weddings or destination celebrations?

We’re based on the Central Coast, NSW, and work across the Hunter Valley, Sydney, Newcastle, South Coast and surrounding regions on a regular basis.

We absolutely do travel for weddings and destination weddings as well. If it feels like the right fit, we’re always open to going a little further. I really love the experience of working in new spaces! It’s like getting a fresh new canvas.

Do you have any insider tips when it comes to planning wedding flowers?

Trust is everything. If you choose a florist whose style you genuinely love and then trust them to do what they do best, you will never be disappointed. That trust goes beyond flower choices, it extends into how your budget is used, how your colour palette is developed. In my experience, the real wow factor doesn’t come from over-planning every detail – it comes from trust and creative freedom. We often guide couples toward larger statement designs that can work harder across the day through thoughtful repurposing. Moving from ceremony to reception and creating multiple moments from the one investment is something that I get so much satisfaction from. Not every florist offers this, but for us it’s a really important part of how we work, ensuring the flowers evolve with the day rather than just sitting in one place. It’s called bang for your buck baby! Ultimately, it always comes back to trusting your creative team. When that trust is there, everything has space to become far more considered, cohesive and memorable.

If you had to sum up a Bloom Folk wedding in three words…

Considered, romantic and intentional.
