Set against the grandeur of Coolibah Downs Private Estate, this decadent styled shoot, aptly named Merlot is like a fine red wine, “a study in refined European elegance, where modern editorial flash photography meets old-world romance – bold and effortlessly intoxicating,” says shoot director, stylist and florist Rae of Camino Events Co. “At the heart of the shoot is authenticity. A real couple brings raw, unfiltered emotion to the narrative, elevating the editorial beyond aesthetics into something deeply felt.”
Not only does this shoot offer up wedding inspiration in spades, but the Queensland-based team of vendors who brought it all together are masters of their trade. Scroll for all the beautiful imagery as well as some wise words from those involved…
August Hill Weddings
“We were deeply inspired by the fusion of old-world European styling and arthouse film, where modern editorial flash photography meets old-world romance,” says Josh from August Hill Weddings, whose work blends cinematic vibes with a hint of nostalgic romance. We’re obsessed with these images – the perfect mix of modern edge and vintage charm.
Camino Events Co
We can’t get enough of this colour palette and the glorious glamour of the florals and stylign”Each element, from the artisanal farm-to-table details to the carefully curated vendor team, was selected with intention. Inspired by the depth and complexity of a fine Bordeaux, the tablescape reflects the richness of Merlot wine,” says Rae. “The literal styling of plums, raspberries, cherries, blackberries, and grapes evokes the essence of a full-bodied vintage.”A Classic Cruize
If vintage wheels and windswept hair are your vibe, A Classic Cruize should be your go-to. These legends on four wheels bring timeless charm to your big day with a fleet of beautifully restored classics. Think: cinematic entrances and postcard-worthy photo ops. They’re not just cars – they’re an entire mood.
Karen Willis Holmes
Ahh we love it when the iconic Karen Willis Holmes is in charge of dressing the bride – we spy the sculptural drop-waisted Capri gown in the mix, as well as the stunningly chic Rosalind & Amelia two-piece. If you are gown hunting, KWH Bridal should be your first point of call. You can see more of the stunning bespoke collection here and go behind-the-scenes with the designer here.
OMG! How bloody good are these cakes (plural!) from one of our absolute favourite bakers Emilyy Bakes, who’s cake creations are all gluten-free. To tie in with the decadent richness of this shoot, Em made not one but two fabulous cakes. “My inspiration came from a ‘why not have both?!’ kind of mind set,” Emily tells us. “I have so many brides torn between tiered cakes or a slab cake and whether or not they want the vintage piping or fresh fruits and I always say well you can absolutely have the both in one! I love cake trends that’s are unique and quirky and speak for the individual couple. Let your personality shine through, there is no right or wrong way to have your wedding cake.” Hard agree!
Kimmi K Artistry
We are big fans of this bridal hair and makeup artist based in Queensland, who’s renowned for her signature soft glam style. Just take a peek at these pics and you’ll see how well she pulls off that gorgeous glowy goddess look.
This vendor team is one of the best we’ve seen – if you’re looking for your own rockstar suppliers, you can find Karen Willis Holmes on the Hello May directory here, Emilyy Bakes here, and Kimmy K Artistry here. Or if a vintage car to transport to you to and from the big day is in the plan, you’ll find A Classic Cruize featured in the Real Wedding Special Vol. 10.
