Bridget and Rowan had a few good reasons for wanting to get married. Whilst Bridge vowed to put up with Rowan’s random shoes in doorways, high volume youtube videos and the spewing of random google facts in bed, Rowan has also decided to overlook a few details. Namely, scattered lip balms and bobby pins and hanger tantrums. They celebrated their mutual patience for each other with fluorescent florals, a pink wedding gown and a rather dashing and extra spesh suit jacket. Luckily for us, Lilli of I Got You Babe Weddings was on hand to capture each and every detail. Scroll down for her fab captures…

THE VENUE “We’re both originally from the north of Tassie but we decided to tie the knot in Hobart because it was where we met and it is special to us. We talk-up Tassie to friends in Melbourne (or anyone that will listen, really) at every chance we get, so it was important to showcase the best of what Tassie offers. It also meant that there were a LOT of venues that fit the bill. Nothing was really feeling right until we started talking (but mostly joking) about MONA. We had our first ‘proper’ date there and it felt nice to imagine that we could get married there too. We sent an enquiry, never really thinking they would have availability on our preferred date or be within our budget… but they did?! And they were?! After that, everything just ‘clicked’ into place like it was meant to be. We were very lucky!”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “When Lisa arrived with the flowers, my heart just overflowed! Lisa and I had chatted on the phone the day before about colours and I’d sent her a picture of my dress but I never could have imagined just how amazing her work would be in person. The colour! The fragrance! The mix of flowers was just phenomenal! Everything from waratahs to jasmine, a giant peony and ranunculus. All my faves all in one place in a gorgeous loose arrangement.”

REFERENCES “There was one day when I was feeling a bit flat about the whole ‘organising a wedding thing’ and Rowan brought me a Hello May to cheer me up (such a sweetheart!). After looking through, we both realised that not every wedding had to look the same and it was ok to be different. It gave us a lot of confidence that we could be ourselves on our wedding day and didn’t need to get sucked into the big white wedding complex.”

LITTLE LOL “The guys discovered mimosas! Who knew that juice and champers was a delicious before midday drinking option? Only every brunch-goer ever! The girls were out of juice before you could say Lizzo Beating and had to move to drinking just plain Janz!”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Having non-traditional attire opened up a lot more options and took away the stress of trying to get what we wanted out of more traditional styles. If you’re keen to go down this track, just do it! It can also save a lot of money in the dress department which might give you the budget to spend on other things. Colour also opened up the creativity of other vendors which was a massive bonus.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Shelley, Sara, Michael and Team MONA went above and beyond in everything they did before, during and after the day. Holey Sha-moley Shelley is an event organisation goddess! From her first email, she was so generous with her time and advice. We never felt rushed to make a decision – just totally informed about what was happening, and what we had to do next. Also,  Lilli, our wonderful photographer. She danced with us in the rain, ran over wet grass with us, laughed with us and made us laugh. There was not a moment where we felt uncomfortable or pressured to be anything but ourselves. It made all the difference on a day that was pretty intense to not face the added pressure of worrying about photos.”
