Alex & Koby’s “sunset disco” themed wedding is just the inspo you need this Monday morn. These two didn’t let the weather dampen their disco fever despite a rained out portrait sesh. Being the Studio Manager of Cloud Catcher Studio (the very collective that snapped these here pics), Alex called on her colleagues for a day after portrait session in the sun. All’s well that ends well, eh? With Mrs Gibbons on blooms and mates behind the lens, you’ll want to read on to learn more about this great day…
FAVOURITE DETAILS “There’s just so much we could choose! The flowers [Mrs Gibbons] were such a central part of the whole day for us, they were super important to set the tone. So much detail was within all the floral pieces, but the arbour, bouquets and reception installations are always going to be a favourite detail from our day.”
A TOUCH OF TRADITION “We did away with a few wedding traditions that didn’t really mean anything to us like staying apart before the wedding and the first dance. We just wanted to do what made us happy and felt important! We twisted a couple of traditions like both of my parents walking me down the aisle and Grandma being our flower girl (she did amazing!) We upheld some family traditions, like keeping some vendors who worked on previous family weddings and having a long time family friend as our celebrant who also married my siblings and cousins before us. That was really special! And maybe not as special but definitely hilarious, the boys of the family dutifully carried out the Eagle Rock tradition by wearing their coordinated eagle undies on the dance floor.”
WE’RE GLAD WE “We’re very glad we turned the wedding into a whole weekend event. It allowed everyone to get away and enjoy the time together more and gave us enough time to prepare before the wedding and relax afterwards. We had a catered brunch on the property the next day and invited all our guests back which was fabulous! A few hangovers were nursed with coffee and great food while we all chilled out and admired the view together.”
LITTLE LOL “We had the best combined bucks and hens party! We wanted to celebrate together with all our friends and family and had the best day put on for us by Alex’s sister, Best Man and Maid of Honour. It all started with the Amazing Race around Brisbane (naturally culminating in margaritas), followed by some stress relief at Rage Cage and ending with an amazing party featuring a performance and trivia by drag queen beauty Anita Service. The biggest surprise though was the giant mechanical penis that met us on our arrival! Amongst many other treasured memories we have related to the wedding, we definitely count the memory of our friends and family holding onto a giant bucking penis for dear life as a favourite!”
STANDOUT VENDORS “We were so lucky to have had the wonderful Cloud Catcher Studio team capture our day. Being on the other side of the camera was daunting for me, but in the hands of these amazing people, we got to experience what makes this team so good at what they do. There was no awkwardness or posing, they let us just be ourselves in that special moment and didn’t interfere, which allowed them to capture beautiful images of us just being us. We are both so grateful to our team for giving us these beautiful images and our film to cherish for the rest of our days.”
