Molly and Daniel had been together for just over 8 years when Daniel decided the time was ripe. He took Molly to their special rock, overlooking Freshwater Beach, which has hosted many a fine date, wine and chat. One enormous 15 metre ‘marry me’ sign later and these two were engaged! Opting for a surprise wedding and a fleeting four-month engagement, this divine urban wedding was captured by one of our faves over here at Hello May, Alexandra Cohen. Scroll down for the evidence…

LITTLE LOL “Our wedding was a surprise and we completely tricked everyone into thinking that they were going to our engagement party at another venue in Sydney. When the bus didn’t take the correct turn off and headed towards Alexandria, apparently the speculations on board were hilarious. We had two friends on the bus who knew and who we’ll be forever grateful for helping us and keeping it a secret. My best friend didn’t even know and everyone said that she was so adamant that it wasn’t a wedding because if anyone would know, it would be her. It was such an elaborate lie that we are both now a bit worried that no one will ever believe anything we say.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “In The Atrium there is existing greenery that I had roses hung from. It was at the centre of our venue and our bridal table sat underneath. The roses added an elegant aspect that contrasted with the rustic space. We were also incredibly lucky that The Grounds had various installations that provided the most amazing backdrops for our wedding and photographs. At the time of our wedding, they had their ‘Boho Valentines Day’ and ‘The Nutcracker’ installation that were just out-of-this-world beautiful.”

THE DRESS “I had two dresses and I found them both online about one month before the wedding. Naturally, the stress levels were quite high by this point. I tried on a few ‘traditional’ wedding dresses but I didn’t like how they looked on me and I didn’t feel myself. My wedding dress was very me and exactly what I wanted. It was a little Kacey Devlin number, a white silk slip, with thin straps and a low cut back. My shoes from Senso just finished the look off perfectly. My reception dress was for when we were ready to get down and boogie. It was a stunning rainbow sequin mini from The Attico.”

REFERENCES “I honestly thank my lucky stars for coming across our amazingly talented photographer Alexandra Cohen. I found her when I was browsing wedding photographers on Instagram. As soon as I saw her page I knew that we needed her there for our special day. Our wedding gallery is just phenomenal and she is so professional and hard working. Not even 24 hours after we said ‘I do’ we had a snippet of around 100 photos from the day.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “had a surprise wedding and honestly, we still can’t believe we pulled it off. We’re also both so glad that we had our wedding so quickly after getting engaged. We got engaged in October and were married in February. I remember asking Daniel if he thought it was too much of a rush and he said, “Mol, I’d marry you tomorrow if I could.” What a guy right? I can also be an emotional hot mess at times, so I promised myself a Gucci bag if I could get down the aisle without crying. I lasted about five steps and it was game over. I loved that I cried because it was all just so emotional but I do wish that I got that Gucci bag…”
