These two are lucky their wedding even went ahead at the gorgeous Audley Dance Hall, thanks to the bushfires at the end of 2019. “The Royal National Park was closed for days leading up to our wedding and the morning before. We had so many people calling to ask what was happening, but luckily, it reopened and we had the most perfect, smoke-free, clear day!” Lucky for us, they enlisted the talents of Kieran Moore Photography to get the goods on camera and here we are today, sharing it with you! THE VENUE “We had initially decided that we wanted to get married in Byron Bay, but it was all feeling a bit stressful and a little difficult to plan from afar. A few of our friends had been married at Audley Dance Hall, so I had never considered it, but when Zane suggested it, and we realised that they had the twilight reception option, it just felt like the perfect decision. We were still able to have our beautiful outdoor wedding less than 30 mins from where we live. We were so happy!”
THE VIBE “There actually wasn’t any specific theme for the day, I just couldn’t wait to marry Zane. In talking and dreaming about our day we always wanted it to be really simple, elegant and romantic. We wanted a venue that was naturally beautiful, that didn’t need too much work or over-styling to come to life and this is where having our wedding in the Royal National Park was perfect! We knew how we wanted our day to feel though – relaxed, fun and full of love – so that’s what we focused on.”
THE DRESS “For so long, I had such a specific style in mind. I had about four appointments and tried on so many dresses, but nothing felt quite right or ‘bridal’ enough. In the end I decided to get my dream dress made, so I was advised by the designer to try on gowns one last time to get an idea of what shapes would suit me best. I went to The Bridal Atelier in Sydney for one last appointment and the amazing Chanel had suggested a style that I never would have chosen for myself. The very classic, structured, form fitting and non-bohemian Savannah Miller gown ended up being my perfect dress. It couldn’t have been further from what I had always pictured I would wear, but looking back I can’t imagine wearing anything else.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “We’re so happy that we stuck to our guns and had our outdoor reception. Logistically it was a bit more to plan and organise, as we had to move up to the hall after dinner for some formalities and dancing. But George from Audley Dance Hall made sure the transition was so seamless and we’re so happy we got our beautiful dinner under the stars with our friends and family. I’m also really glad that all of my bridesmaids wore different dresses and a dress they individually felt beautiful and comfortable in. They all looked so stunning and felt it because their dresses were suited to each of their shapes.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Oh gosh, we had the best vendors for our wedding – everyone was amazing. We would have to say though, that our photographers and friends Kieran Moore Photography went absolutely above and beyond for us. Zane hates having his photo taken, so we had an engagement shoot as a ‘practice run’, and it was actually the best day and really helped for the wedding! They made us feel so comfortable and captured who we are as a couple so organically. We couldn’t be happier with our experience with them and of course our photos!”
