Melissa and Jonathan’s wedding day can best be described as rustic elegance at its finest. You’d never know these two spent the entire night before the wedding cleaning up after their kelpie puppy’s rambunctious antics! Combining their Colombian and Greek heritage, the sporty duo were engaged for a speedy 10 months because they were well…a little bit excited to get married! This didn’t stop them from nabbing a few of our fave vendors including a mighty fine suit from M.J. Bale and tunes for days from Tobi Tobi. Ashleigh Haase Photography and Alper of Artistic Films were also on hand to make sure every little detail was preserved. Scroll down for the goods…

THE VENUE “We live on a 20-acre property and absolutely love the lifestyle and waking up every morning to beautiful views of paddocks and trees. We always wanted something a little more relaxed with a country feel but still elegant. When we first went to Stones of the Yarra Valley for lunch one day, we were absolutely blown away and knew one day we wanted to get married here. We saw a couple of other venues beforehand but we just fell in love with Stones.”

DIY “I planned and styled the wedding. I created the invitations, place cards for the tables, paper cones for our floral petals, candles and candle boxes for our ceremony and reception, stands for our table numbers, photo board (old frame with polaroid photos hanging), pamper kits for the bathroom and memorial sign with candles.”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “Our Spanish dance routine! We had sooo much fun rehearsing and performing this and everyone was so impressed by our dance skills haha! Everyone joined us on the dance floor and I remember taking a second to look around at everyone and everyone was smiling and genuinely so happy. It was a beautiful moment for me.”

LITTLE LOL “Bouquet toss! I had been waiting for this moment for so long after watching so many movies. I was so excited to throw the bouquet and was certain it would be a perfect throw. Apparently, I threw it so high that it hit the beams of the roof and fell on the floor right in front of my bunch of girls. Jb’s 10-year-old cousin quickly grabbed it which was super cute!”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Woweee what can I say about Alper [Artistic Films]. He is truly talented and captured our day magically. We, along with our guests, have watched our wedding video on repeat since the wedding. It really is something we will cherish forever and we are so thankful to Alper for taking the time to get to know us and creating a video that perfectly highlights our special day. Also, Ashleigh Haase Photography! Ash was so great to work with in the lead up to our wedding. She arranged a time to meet with us and really took the opportunity to get to know us. We brought our Kelpie puppy with us and from that point, we just clicked. Ash has two dogs of her own which she adores and so do JB and I. It was hard to talk all things wedding when we could have spoken about dogs the entire time haha! On the day of the wedding, Ash was so determined to capture all of our special moments. She really took the lead and it was so great having someone like Ash to tell us what to do for the photos. The thing I really like about Ash is that instead of telling us to pose in a certain way she would ask us questions that would prompt the pose, for example, “Tell your husband what you like most about him, turn to your favourite bridesmaid, tell each other something cheeky etc”. She made the day so much fun and captured our day beautifully. We absolutely adore our photos and are so thankful to Ash for capturing our special day.”
