Bridget wooed her man over by admitting the night they met that he was the “hot pharmacist” she used to “check out at the local pharmacy” a few years before meeting him and their love story began. They got married in this stunning winter wedding 16 months after John proposed and Janneke Storm was the lens lady there to make the memories live on. Scroll down for all the details…

THE VENUE “I always wanted to get married in my home town of Maryborough. As we are both Catholics, having the ceremony in the church where I was baptised was the obvious choice. We wanted a reception venue that allowed us the freedom to bring in our own catering and alcohol. Unfortunately, the options in Maryborough aren’t extensive, but I fell completely in love with the St Paul’s Memorial Hall and knew it would be the perfect backdrop for the styling I had in mind.”

THE VIBE “Whilst I hadn’t told John anything about my dress, it was the centrepiece of my styling board. I wanted to embrace that sense of warmth, using rich reds and greens, with pops of shiny brass. After choosing our reception venue, it seemed natural to channel some art deco vibes too, which was mostly reflected in our stationery. We wanted to create a sense of intimacy, which we did with hanging foliage installations and festoon lights to create the feel of a lower ceiling.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “Having a morning wedding. We got the official proceedings down while we were fresh, partied on during the afternoon and into the night, and we were in bed by 10:30pm! Also, the mini degustation lunch menu – 3 entrée sized courses. There was no alternate drop, everyone got everything on the menu!”

THE DRESS “I had never imagined myself wearing a white dress. A few years ago, I saw a gorgeous Aje long-sleeved, gold sequinned dress and tucked it away in a safe spot to revisit when the time came. Five years on, I used it as my inspiration. Brad at Darb Bridal Couture was amazing. He alleviated any anxiety I’d had about finding the right fabric straight away by saying ‘oh, we’ll get that made!’ We started the process about six months before the wedding. Brad and Belinda were simply amazing throughout the whole process. We had an absolute ball at every single appointment.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Do your first dance right! Swaying back and forth gets a bit boring to do and watch. Just knowing a couple of moves that you can tie together will be a life-long skill you’ll never regret!”

STANDOUT VENDORS “I cannot praise the girls from Hey Posy enough. Jess and Roxy were brilliant. I knew that I wanted to hire someone to take care of our wedding set up and these girls truly went above and beyond.”
