This is a well-travelled love story, folks. Bonny and Andrew met in Spain. When they realised they had a pretty good thing going, Bonny packed up and moved from Sydney to Perth (a mere 3934 km) to keep things rolling. Two years later the couple were engaged in Byron Bay! They’re a well-dressed pair, too! Bonny donned a slinky Grace Loves Lace gown whilst Andrew opted for all-over M.J Bale. We couldn’t fault a thing. One of our fave photographers, Alexandra Cohen, was there snapping away. You can catch the rest of this glorious day below…

THE DRESS “The Grace Loves Lace gown I wore was the first wedding dress I ever tried on! I wanted something simple and timeless with a low cut back. I found a beautiful silk gown whilst scrolling through Instagram and I knew I had to have it. I flew my Mum over from Sydney to show her and we both knew it was the one straight away, I didn’t bother looking anywhere else. I added a touch more detail with a pearl back piece.”

FAVOURITE MEMORIES “Having recently lost both of my beautiful grandparents two months earlier, we were determined to bring some happiness back into my family’s lives again and turn a negative year into a positive one. I wore my Nanna’s rings so she could be with me and I know they would have been so incredibly proud of us. Being able to have our families reunite and be together for a whole weekend of celebrating was really special, as my family is from Sydney.”

A TOUCH OF TRADITION “Andrew is from a Greek background so we decided to have a traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony which involves two main parts, the Service of Betrothal (ring ceremony) and the Service of Crowning (a crowning ceremony). Our first dance was in the church itself, and is performed as part of the crowning ceremony (Dance of Isaiah) which symbolises our first steps as husband and wife together.”

LITTLE LOL “We decided to hang around Cottesloe for the afternoon for our photos with Alex. We didn’t realise The Sculptures by the Sea was on that weekend and the parking was crazy! We quickly left the car to take some photos in the gardens and came back to a huge parking fine on the window. Luckily the council let us off as it was our wedding day.”

WE’RE GLAD WE “When we look back now, we are so glad we just took the chance and re-planned our wedding when the borders opened. Life right now is so unpredictable (snap lockdowns and all) and everyone was so over the moon that our day finally went ahead, whether they were able to attend or not.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “For us, our photographer was super important and what we spent the most time deciding on. We wanted someone to candidly capture those special and raw moments for elderly family members and friends who wouldn’t be able to travel from Sydney for our day. We clicked with Alex Cohen straight away and she was an absolute legend to work with, even when we changed our date three times! She captured all of our laughs, passion, emotion and ugly crying so beautifully, we can’t thank her enough!”
