FRENCH-INSPIRED WEDDING STYLING FOR MODERN ROMANTICS

Influenced by France’s romantic wine region, this styled celebration lovingly weaves old-world European references with a modern, editorial approach. Enduring elegance and sophistication, delivered in a way that feels fresh and in-tune with couples of today.

Queensland lovers and those looking at destination weddings in the region will be stoked to hear that this styled shoot was pulled together not on the other side of the planet, but rather, just down the road on the Sunny Coast at The Singing Heart Estate. But no matter which corner of the globe you choose to host, these pics pose a rich pool of ideas.

Behind the lens and charting creative direction was locally-based Maison Liora Weddings. Founder Emily described the vision as timeless yet subtly modern, “where art, history, and emotion meet in a way that feels both considered and effortless”.

“In capturing the day, I wanted it to feel as a wedding truly does,” Emily explains. “From the quiet emotion of a first look, to the movement between spaces, and the natural build of excitement throughout. This was balanced with a refined, editorial approach to composition, allowing each moment to feel elevated without losing its authenticity. The intention was to create imagery that feels both romantic and fashion-led – enduring, expressive, and deeply felt.”

Emily assembled a talented collective of local creatives including Camino Events Co, Haus of Rae, Emilyybakes and more; each bringing their own artistry and perspective to this beautifully considered styled shoot. Scroll on for behind-the-scenes thoughts from some of the pros who helped make it happen.

ROMANTIC, EURO WEDDING TABLE SETTING & SIGNAGE

This sophisticated garden-to-alfresco set-up features a romantic abundance and inviting warmth that we’ve come to love from stylist/planner Camino Events Co (whose handiwork also featured in this bold, red styled shoot). Generously layered textiles, vintage-esque glass and silverware, plates that could have come straight from your grandmother’s most treasured collection—these are just a few of the elements that have won our hearts. “The tablescape took an Arts de la table approach but with a textured and rebellious element. With refined glassware, crockery and silverware honouring the French tradition of creating a harmonious place of dining to encourage conversation and connection, but rebelling with textured linen as an ode to vintage and editorial wedding fashion. The scrunched fabric replicating a wedding dress’ pleating.”

Oh and how about that beautiful fabric signage dancing in the wind, courtesy of Details Decided. “I wanted each piece to feel refined, timeless, and quietly expressive,” shares the Details Decided team. “Through soft colour, elegant typography, and subtle detailing, my aim was to create signage that not only guided guests but elevated the intimate, romantic feel of the day.”

A WEDDING CAKE IN WHITE | UNIQUE OVAL SHAPE & VINTAGE-STYLE PIPING

In harmony with the day’s stylistic elements, cake designer Emilyybakes pulled from the past whilst still giving this sweet masterpiece a sprinkling of modernity. “I took inspo from the tending cakes right now, super fine detailed vintage piping but wanted to use the oval shape for a little difference. [I’m] loving the more intimate moments with the couples and their private cake cutting”.

UNIQUE, HANDS-FREE BRIDAL BOUQUET

An array of French landscapes their muse, florist Blumenhaus says that each piece of foliage and floral “was placed with intention to provide a modern, soft structure that mimics it’s natural growing state, whilst complementing the venue and styling.”

We also must give Tayla Fay of Blumenhaus their flowers for this hands-free bridal bouquet design; we love a solution that’s as practical as it is pretty. “The bouquet was completely wired with handmade mechanics, acting as an adjustable clasp around the wrist,” explains Tayla. “Our inspiration for this was drawing from the shapes and textures used in the ceremony installation while complementing the dress itself. We wanted this design to free the brides hands to allow her to hold her husband-to-be’s hands without the messiness of handing off her florals constantly throughout the day – they’re always by her side, as her husband is”.

PLANNING YOUR ROMANTIC, FRENCH-INSPIRED WEDDING DAY

Merci beaucoup to these wedding suppliers for generously sharing their artistry and insights. If you’re dreaming up a celebration with a similarly romantic, European-inspired feel, here are a few more ideas to explore…

BLENDING OLD AND NEW WEDDING STYLING

As you cherry-pick charming vintage-inspired details for your wedding day, consider how you might weave in personal touches that nod to your own love story — or reimagine classic elements in a way that feels functional for a modern celebration (gestures to Blumenhaus’ hands-free bouquet). Bringing an experienced stylist into the fold can make all the difference too; after all, this is exactly what they do best.

BRINGING THAT EURO VIBE TO AUSTRALIA

The secret sauce is teaming with vendors that understand your vision (like this cohort of creatives below). Build a mood board narrowing into very (very) specific references that speak to you.
