Catherine and Steven, the two lovers you see before you today, sure know how to prioritise. A five-year engagement (complete with two cute bubbas) led to this doozy of a day. Poppy’s Getting Married wrangled wild, vintage-inspired blooms whilst the good folk at Miss Ladybird Cakes produced something sublime and yep, we have details. A two-tier citrus and lemon myrtle cake with a top tier of toffee blackcurrant was the flavour of the day.  If these are the kind of details you can get behind, we recommend scrolling down. Melbourne based lens-extraordinaire Georgia Verrells has captured it all for your perusing pleasure….

THE VIBE “We loved the look of a vintage feel but our brief to most of our vendors was ‘Steve and I are getting married and having a party afterwards’, so we did away with a lot of traditional wedding formalities. As we’re already an established family with two young daughters the day was really a celebration of the four of us. We wanted to feel relaxed and in the moment without the stress that can often come with planning a wedding and getting married.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “I nearly cried when I saw the floral crowns [Poppy’s Getting Married] on our daughters in their dresses. They looked like little princesses and we were so proud of them on the day. Our DJ, Daniel Toop from Griffin Alliance, gave us an unforgettable moment of a private dance party with our girls before our guests came downstairs for the reception. We danced to songs from The Wiggles, Disney films and of course Let It Go from Frozen.”

FAVOURITE MOMENTS “I was disappointed that I couldn’t see our girls make their way down the aisle, scattering their dried rose petals and confetti hearts, especially as we had spent weeks practising at home. I just couldn’t see anything, hiding around the corner getting ready to make my way to meet Steve at the other end, but I knew they had made it when I heard all of our guests say ‘Aww!’ at the same time.”

DIY “I made all the table number books myself. The books were from book sale trolleys at my work that had the dust jackets removed and then laser etched on.”

LITTLE LOL “Our oldest daughter picking her nose standing up next to us at the end of the ceremony as we were announced as Australia’s newest married couple was pretty funny.”

WE WISH WE “I wish I had enlisted the help of a stylist earlier. Planning a wedding with two young children whilst also working is not easy. There were many late nights scouring the internet for inspiration and businesses. I could have done with the extra sleep!”
