Together for seven years, Stephanie and Travis’ union was the product of a classic office romance. When it came to the proposal, lovely Travis took into account his beloved’s desire to avoid being the centre of attention. A kitchen proposal ensued involving flowers, a kitchen chalkboard message, their puppy and bubbles. With a man in the kitchen, what more could Stephanie want? When it came to their big day the couple were channelling a relaxed yet elegant vibe which they were able to create at their stunning reception venue, Emu Bottom Homestead. The whole day was so Insta worthy that Stephanie’s 93-year-old grandpa shared the pics on his smartphone that very day (including the insane two-tiered semi-nude cake by Miss Ladybird Cakes).

Walking down the aisle in a divine Karen Willis Holmes number (with the Groom in Calibre) the couple were snapped by Hello May fave Georgia Verrells. Scroll down to sneak a peak at some more fab photos…

THE VENUE “We saw several venues before we picked Emu Bottom Homestead. The Homestead is the oldest in Victoria and you can’t help but fall in love with the stunning gardens and the charm of the building. The venue is beautiful in its simplicity which means it needs minimal styling. The homestead dining room was the perfect size for our number of guests and still allowed room for a big dance floor.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “We had two petal confetti guns which shot rose petals 3 metres in the air. Trav didn’t realise that we had them and he was startled by the sound! Certainly made for some amazing aisle photos. Also, Julie from Bunches of Happiness was our floral stylist. She’s a good friend of ours and mum to my bridesmaid, Kate. She styled my bouquet using smoke bush from my Grandpa’s garden which gave a deep red tone. She had also been collecting antique vases which she styled with gorgeous blooms. We clustered those with candles on the tables and they suited the venue perfectly.”

DIY…”It’s amazing what you can achieve with some inspiration and a trip to Ikea! We bought all the candles and candle holders from Ikea. We clustered them on tables, had pillar candles in the fireplace and scattered around the venue. My mum spent a month drying rose petals from her garden for confetti. We had a mix of blush pink, deep red and pale-yellow petals. We then made confetti cone holders out of cardboard and handed them out to guests for the ceremony.”

THE DRESS “My dress is the Bobby gown from Karen Willis Holmes’ Wild Hearts Collection. KWH was the third designer I visited. I found the shopping experience more enjoyable than I expected. I ended up with a form-fitting dress which wasn’t my original intention however, I had honest bridesmaids and a mum who gave great advice. The dress was so comfortable. I danced all night and still felt relaxed by the end of the evening.”

STANDOUT VENDORS Georgia, our photographer was amazing. When we met for the first time she was wearing a Gorman jumpsuit which practically sealed the deal for me. She was so easy to work with on the day, giving lots of direction yet also let us do our own thing. Also, Matt Finch, our celebrant wrote and delivered the most amazing ceremony for us. He had the audience (and us) crying, laughing and enjoying every moment. He was also a great help when we were writing our vows. He was honest and made sure that we created memorable vows for one another. “
