Lorena and George, both teachers, are fond of a good party. It’s no wonder then that come their big day it was all about the d-floor. There was a hefty dose of Greek dancing, in recognition of George’s fam, and some sizzling live Latin music in acknowledgment of Lorena’s Chilean heritage. What a combo! Naturally, Lorena’s gown choice revolved heavily on groovability with the gorge bride setting on a super sparkly Karen Willis Holmes number. Lens-lady (and super fun human) Samantha Heather Photography was in attendance snapping pics. Scroll down for all the industrial inspo you need in your life…

THE VENUESimmer On The Bay was the first venue we viewed. I am an impatient and impulsive person, so we basically made our mind up that day after viewing one more venue. We chose it because of its industrial feel and its intimate nature. We didn’t want a typical reception hall so this fit our day perfectly.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “The amazing florals hanging above us at the reception and our beautiful arbour created by She Designs. Also, our photos- Sam and Stephen [Samantha Heather Photography] were so relaxed throughout the day. Sam was so dedicated she even lit her hair on fire accidentally trying to get photos of our reception entrance!”

THE DRESS “My dress was from Karen Willis Holmes in Sydney. I wanted something that wasn’t made from a typical fabric and also wanted to be able to dance easily throughout the night. I tried on the ‘Lottie’ dress and it sat so perfectly on me that I ended up buying it and taking it home that day! The whole process was super relaxed and easy.”

FAVOURITE MOMENTS “The dance floor went off on the night and the band got my uncle up to show off some Latin moves. We will all have bad flashbacks of his booty shaking for years to come. My mother in law got in on the greek spirit and was doing shots off the dance floor while everyone was cheering her on.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Pick and prioritise the things that are really important to you both and book them first. We booked the reception, band and stylist within the first few months. Lots of things probably won’t go to plan (my original cake maker, hairstylist and makeup artist all cancelled on me a few weeks out) but don’t sweat the small stuff. If you don’t laugh about it, you’ll cry.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Sam and Stephen from Samantha Heather Photography were so easygoing on the day and really just felt like a couple of our friends. They kept it relaxed and mainly just shot what they saw– the results were stunning. Also, our celebrant David Lang. From the attention to detail of his preparation to his heartfelt delivery – it was all brilliant.”
