Together for “seven incredible years”, Maggie and Seth married at Berry Hill, Leets Vale. On the banks of the Hawkesbury River, their marquee wedding celebration was witnessed by 95 and backdropped by natural splendour. The only thing more beautiful than the view being the couple themselves: the groom looking schmick in Suit Supply and the bride in a lace Kamperett two-piece that evokes both nostalgia and modernity all at once.

Alongside talented family who were happy to chip in, these two got right into DIY-mode, and the bride, an interior designer by trade, put her skills to work. “I have always loved design and styling and have been in the industry for many years now,” Maggie shares. “I found it really exciting to be able to design/style and curate our wedding in a way that was meaningful to us.”

Loved-up portraits in the long grass, digital and film moments artfully caught by photographer Hayley Rafton, delicate dainty blooms and a night-before set up that sounds like a party in and of itself. Outdoor Marquee Wedding Inspiration on the Hawkesbury River

“We had looked at a few venues, Seth found Berry Hill online and thought it looked perfect. When we went to have a look at the venue, we knew that was exactly where we needed to get married. The property reminded us of a family property I had grown up camping on. There was the most beautiful energy around the property, everything felt so calm and relaxed and being surrounded by the incredible nature of the Hawkesbury River felt perfect to us.”

FAVE DETAILS | WEDDING CAKE & DELICATE BLOOMS

“Our ceremony surrounded by the long grass was one of my favourite details, as well as my bouquet my mum put together. I (the bride) grew up in the garden, picking flowers, digging in the dirt, learning about all the plants, what they’re called, what they can be used for, from my parents. To be able to have my mum, put together my bouquet of flowers from our garden which is something that holds so much significance in my childhood and our relationship is so special to me. She also made our beautiful cake and she handmade these beautiful orchids that sat on top of the cake like a crown. Something we will never forget.”

Creative DIY Wedding Ideas for Furniture, Styling & Signage

“The whole wedding almost! Our lounging furniture was sourced over the three years from Facebook market place or from our home. We reupholstered all of the cushions so they were matching in a fabric that sat calmly within the greenery and long grass on the property. We also made all the table cloths to fit the dining tables, bar tables, signing table and canapé table perfectly. The seating chart was a timber and fabric room divider. I had drawn and printed the design we wanted on the sign along with the guest names. The morning of the wedding, our sister ironed all the names on and it worked out perfectly, just how we envisioned!”

Most Memorable Wedding Moments from a Relaxed Country Wedding

“A favourite thing for me was Seth and I made such an effort to stay by each other’s side all day, so we really truly got to experience the whole day together. We had our families and closest friends stay on the property the night before, so the morning of we got to all eat breakfast and have coffee together. It was so special seeing our family’s come together.”

Behind the Scenes | The Wedding Setup Party Before the Big Day

“The night before the wedding it was all hands on deck. We had the footy playing on a projector outside, while we cooked pizzas in the pizza oven and every one chipped in to make sure the venue was set up perfectly for the next day. Being surrounded by our families and friends the night before was one of our favourite memories.”

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony Inspiration in the Hawkesbury

“Walking down the aisle felt like such a blur, the ceremony was so incredibly special. Aniella was a truly beautiful celebrant and helped us create a ceremony that was just so perfect.”
