Looking for an excuse to rock out those epic temporary tattoos of your youth? Us too- and apparently so were Zoe and Lach- who managed to work these gems of yesteryear into their wedding. Then there was the longnecks, that epic, giant tree and a ’70’s psych-rock-music-festival’ meets ‘viking/Celtic’ theme! Why? Because ”Lachlan looks like a viking!” says the bride. Well, we’d expect nothing less from this couple, who both happen to work in the film industry. Big ups to HM Directory Vendor, Luke Going Photography for all the pics and South Coast Party Hire for setting the scene with that perfect festoon lighting…

THE VENUE “We had a certain look in mind and went to a few different properties before finding Willow Farm Berry. It really encompassed everything we were looking for, including an amazing spot for a small, private ceremony, an awesome entertainment shed for our party, and amazing accommodation we could stay in, on site for the whole weekend.”

LITTLE LOL “As we both work in film, we counted down to our wedding day like the lead up to a film release date with promotional videos that we shared on social media. They were really fun to make, but also got all the guests pumped for the big day. Our speeches were set up like an Oscars-style awards ceremony where everyone who made a speech had to accept an award and even got played off if their speech was too long. And instead of a ‘first dance’ we decided to have a “first dj set” together. We put on shiny gold jackets and sunglasses to get in the mood…”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “We got some temporary tattoos, which made for great photos early in the day, and as the night went on and the drinks were drunk, began to appear on necks, cheeks and even foreheads! Also, everyone who has been to Berry knows The Famous Berry Donut Van, so rather than cake, we got dozens of donuts delivered at the end of the night for all our guests to enjoy as the party wrapped up!”

DIY “The best DIY for us was the flowers. We got them all delivered separately after a friend purchased them from some Sydney markets, and Zoe and her closest friends created the arrangements and bouquets.”

THE DRESS “I had always thought I wanted a long sleeve dress, because I’m self conscious about my arms.But when I tried on this Lover dress, with the beautiful detailing, frill neck and silk ribbon, I just loved it! I bought it six months into our two year engagement and it was so timeless, I loved it as much on the day as when I first tried it on.”

REFERENCES “We found Luke Going Photography on Hello May, which was the first thing we booked. Good photography was very important to us and he is the best.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Our celebrant and best friend, Weddings By Jae was briliant! Our photographer was incredible- our photos are beyond our wildest expectations. And our venue was one of the most beautiful properties. The managers were so easy to deal with. Our Food Truck was exceptional and our DJ, The Vintage Stylus, was the coolest and friendliest guy to deal with. Not only was his service beforehand and during the event on point, but his taste in music is amazing!
