“We wanted it to feel like one long lunch with good food, great wine, our favourite people and just a little wedding on the side,” Veronica and Duncan tell us of their wedding at Old Palm Liquor

This Brunswick wedding was a seriously good time! Even their photographer, I Got You Babe, says she had never “been so entertained or laughed so hard”. Scroll down for more from the hilarious and cheeky portrait session.
As well as the good vibes, there was a green MJ Bale suit, three dresses (from Rachel Gilbert, Rebecca Vallance, Shona Joy ), and an epic veil from Amelie George.

The always-incredible Lilli Waters of I Got You Babe captured this fun-AF day oh-so perfectly. See for yourself below.

THE PROPOSAL “We love hiking, especially in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. V is the mastermind behind planning our weekends, so it’s tough to surprise her since everything is usually pre-planned. But I dropped a few hints about going for a hike one weekend, and she finally bit! We were walking through this stunning trail and came to a clearing with trees perfectly arranged in a triangle, and I thought, this is the spot. When I dropped to one knee, she was so shocked, she thought I was down there to grab her an Iced VoVo from my backpack. I proposed with a necklace from Molten because we really wanted to pick out a ring together – something we ended up doing in Italy a few months later.”

THE VENUE “We’ve been going to Old Palm Liquor for many years and had many dates together. So it was a no-brainer for us when we were deciding on a wedding venue. It was the first and only place that came to mind, which also represented us and captured our passion for good food and wine.”

THE DRESS “I knew I didn’t want a traditional wedding dress – I was looking for something short, fun, and perfect for the ceremony. Over Christmas, I popped into Rebecca Vallance, saw the dress, and fell in love with it instantly. I bought it on the spot – 10 months ahead of the wedding! But I wasn’t done yet. For the family photos, I wanted something floral and colorful, so a late-night online shopping session at Rachel Gilbert was the answer. I knew it was meant to be when it arrived and was exactly what I had envisioned.”

THE SUIT “I wanted a green suit for the day, to match the feel of our reception and of course, with V. It took a couple of days searching online to see M.J. Bale had the perfect colour and style, and I know they’re a great fit for me.”

STANDOUT VENDOR “V’s university background was in fine art, and always had a love for photography. V was a fan of Lilli Waters of I Got You Babe for her fine art work and was amazed to see on Instagram accidentally one day that she also did wedding photography. It was the quickest email we ever sent to book her in for our date. Lilli was calm, kind, and completely understood our desire for candid, unposed moments.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Agree on the main theme and vision for the day early on. As we got deeper into the planning, there were moments when certain details became overwhelming or difficult to perfect. Whenever that happened, we’d step back and ask ourselves if it aligned with our vision of a relaxed, long lunch. It helped us refocus and let go of the irrelevant details, allowing us to concentrate on what really mattered most to us.”
