Tina and Dale’s pristine wedding day is proof that it’s worth holding out for your fave vendors. These two fell so hard for the lush grounds of Gabbinbar Homestead that they based their wedding date on availability of the venue alone. It’s all in the details, folks, from the pastel pink anthriums in the brides bouquet to the duo’s Cushla Whiting Jewellery wedding rings. Don’t even get us started on Tina’s super luxe beaded gown that she picked up from the gals at Sphere Collective. You’ll just need to peep Lucy Sheedy’s sweet snaps for yourself, so do scroll down…

THE VENUE “Early on, we crammed a weekend Brisbane trip full of wedding venue inspections. We checked out 5-6 places in and around Brisbane because that is where we met and it’s pretty central for our family and friends. We decided to select one wild-card location outside of Brisbane and Gabbinbar Homestead looked the most ‘us’. When we got there we had absolutely no doubts that it was perfect. The driveway, grounds, staff, background music, catering menu, conservatory, leather couches, old tennis court, the beautiful restored Queenslander – it was all perfect. We put down a holding deposit that week.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “We can find something special in almost every aspect of our day. The invitations were designed by my sister (Anna) who is an Architect and Graphic Designer. The invitation suite included a hand-drawn illustration of the Gabbinbar Homestead along with calligraphy done by hand. She also designed our wedding signage, seating chart and menu. It was so lovely having her on board with the wedding stationary. She understood my vision and with us being sisters, she knew exactly what I wanted.”

THE DRESS “During my search for ‘the dress’ I found from the beginning that I gravitated towards beaded gowns. It took me about three weekends of wedding dress shopping before I found the one. I wanted a dress that was classic in style and with a modern edge. My dress from Jane Hill Bridal was the perfect fit. I had seen the dress online and was drawn by the intricate hand-sewn beaded design. When I found out that Sphere Collective on the Sunshine Coast was holding a trunk show for Jane Hill I jumped at the opportunity to go try it on. When I finally wore the dress, I instantly thought it was the one. I also added detachable tulle wings onto the dress in lieu of wearing a veil.”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “I loved our first dance. We danced to ‘Nothing Else’ by Angus & Julia Stone. During the crescendo we had fireworks lighting up the glass conservatory. We had kept it as a secret throughout all of our planning, so none of our friends and family were expecting it. It is great to look at their reactions in that moment from the video and photos.”

A TOUCH OF TRADITION “My heritage is Vietnamese, so we had a Vietnamese Tea Ceremony in the Morning. I was impressed that Dale was adamant he would wear a men’s traditional Vietnamese Wedding Outfit (Áo dài) which we had custom made in a trip to Vietnam. I also had my Áo dài made to measure in Vietnam. It was nice to have the tea ceremony in the morning as it meant we didn’t have to wait long to see each other later in the day for our wedding ceremony at Gabbinbar.”

This super luxe day was originally published in Issue 25 of Hello May mag. If you would like to get your hands on this particular issue, we have limited copies available via our online store. We have even thrown in a sneaky gift. Get on it!
