When you have a backdrop of mountains, cosy heaters galore and blankets for all, you know it’s going to be a good day. Together for 12 years, Josh proposed to Rhiannon with the aid of the couple’s two-year-old daughter Maggie. But the sunset proposal also had its real moments. “Maggie brought us back to earth quickly by throwing a tantrum due to it being past breakfast time”, they laugh. Young Maggie made up for her meltdown with a solid performance on the wedding d-floor, adorable details of which you can find below. THE VENUE “We had previously been to Wanaka for my sister’s wedding in Summer and Josh and I kept saying to each other how amazing it would be to get married there in Winter. So many of our family and friends are from North Queensland so to have a winter wedding would be a fun new experience and it’s so easy to fly there! There are so many gorgeous venues in Wanaka and we were tossing up between a few but Criffel had so much character and was a great blank canvas to work with.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “The food [In2Food] was simply gorgeous! We felt it would have been a travesty to not have beautiful food at a New Zealand wedding. Having it in share plates made it feel like a fun family dinner party and not a formal sit down event.”

LITTLE LOL “Our daughter Maggie was in the spotlight all day. During the ceremony she was running around and standing between Josh and I. At the start of the reception our brother in law Rosh, who was our MC, had taught her to do a welcome over the microphone and then she proceeded to join every speaker during the speeches trying to steal the limelight. On the dance floor she certainly did steal the limelight tearing it up until she was too tired to stand (almost 9:30pm!).”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Don’t go over the top with tiny details as this may add to the stress of it all! With the right music, the right people and great food you cannot go wrong!”

WE’RE GLAD WE “We’re glad we got married in Wanaka! The travel added to the excitement and we got to spend more than a day with our favourite people. It just added so much more to an epic memory.”

STANDOUT VENDORStories by Ash really did go above and beyond. She hung around all week, made an appearance at our pre wedding lunch the day before, gave us a family photo shoot a few days after the wedding and with the photo package gave us tons of incredible landscape shots of Wanaka. We were so lucky to have her around!”

We bet after reading that glowing review you fancy getting in touch with lovely lady Stories by Ash. Well, we have good news and good news.
