Usually when we picture an uninvited wedding guest, images of Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn in ‘Wedding Crashers’ comes to mind. But for Steph and Tom it was Mother Nature who showed up unexpectedly. Thankfully, this couple kept their cool and didn’t let a little (lot of) rain ruin their day.

“The torrential downpour would have had to have been the biggest hoot of the day/night. What started out with a little rain turned into the next flood of the South Coast. Both lighting and music were cut out at some point due to the rain, all of which was sorted and added to the experience of the wedding turned next Glastonbury Festival. All guests had their shoes off and embraced the mud and pools of water on the makeshift dance floor inside the marquee,” the pair explains, agreeing that the ceremony was the best part of the day.

Dressed in an off-the-shoulder Daughters of Simone boho gown (purchased from Sydney bridal boutique Love Marie), Steph reflects on the intensity of the moment of official union with Tom. “It had just started to rain as I walked down the aisle. I stood there holding Tom’s hands with drops of rain running down my face, and for the entire ceremony I was locked in a moment. Despite all nerves and emotions (trust, I had felt all the emotions in the lead up), the only person that was there was Tom. Indescribable really, just a time we won’t ever forget,” says the bride, who ensured her seven-year-old step daughter played a special part in the festivities.

“She means the absolute world to Tom and I. Aside from being flower girl, she was incorporated into our ceremony as much as we could. She gave a speech to both Tom and I, and then I gave one to her on behalf of the both of us. It was a memorable moment for all of us,” Steph tells us, adding that it was a crew of amazing vendors (like We Play Records and Fine Spun Catering) that helped their day come together. One surefire standout, say the newlyweds, was photography genius/all around nice human being Nina Claire, who luckily for the couple had recently relocated from Sydney to Byron Bay.

“Our incredible photographer, Nina Claire. She’s an absolute pleasure to work with, and on the day made us feel at complete ease during the whole experience. She captured the day perfectly, and stayed well past what was required of her in order to get all the funny moments on the dance floor. We couldn’t be happier that we chose this one lady to photograph the moments we will remember forever.”
