Stephanie and Michael, the spiffy couple you see before you today, enjoyed a thorough 21-month engagement and they wouldn’t change it for the world. Why? Scroll down to the adorable tux clad toddler. A pretty well-spent engagement don’t cha think?! The duo made sure to use the rest of their extra planning time very wisely by securing some of the best vendors in the biz. Pomp and Splendour got moody with the florals whilst Baker Boys Band provided tunes for some serious d-floor business. As for the sweet snaps before your very eyes, Lilli of I Got You Babe Weddings is to thank. Scroll down for the details…

THE VIBE “We love having intimate dinners and get-togethers with our loved ones. We aren’t hugely drawn to large flashy events or big crowds, so we envisioned an intimate winter dinner party. This meant a smaller guest list, with a focus on our closest friends and family, delicious food and premium drinks, a carefully curated playlist and ‘dance all night’ entertainment.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “The flowers were like a work of art. Pomp & Splendour and I worked together on this to create a crisp, fun and romantic palette of ivory, nude, pale blush, champagne, peachy pinks, a warm-toned coppery gold and a variety of rich burgundy reds. We wanted the style and feel to be loose and natural with bold featured blooms as a focus. Boy, did they deliver on this! Our bouquets presented as roaming mini gardens, cascading and a bit wild, which contrasted beautifully with the girls’ sophisticated look and my gown’s elegant silhouette. At the alter we had a large installation that crept out of the wall and onto the floor because we wanted drama and height at the ceremony. This installation really set the scene for the wedding aesthetic in my opinion. It was almost the centre of the theme and it created the intimate atmosphere whilst elevating the ‘moody’ candles that surrounded on the floor.”

FAVOURITE MOMENTS “I didn’t leave the D-floor and still have the numb spots on my feet to prove it! Towards the end, our good mates decided to lift us both on their shoulders for the last dance to Daryl Braithwaite’s ‘Horses’. We were airborne for the whole song with all our loved ones gathered around singing and dancing along with us. It was so fun and definitely a memory we will never forget.”

A TOUCH OF TRADITION “I knew it would be a particularly hard day for Mick because his mum is not with us. So a few months prior I commissioned Jan Logan to incorporate a piece of his mum’s jewellery into cufflinks so that he had his own bespoke memento to wear that would remind him that his mum was with him on his wedding day. My now sister in law was kind enough to give me their mum’s favourite ring to use, which was actually from Jan Logan also, and was the piece that inspired Mick to use Jan Logan for my engagement ring in the first place. The design ended up perfect. Asymmetrical cufflinks handmade just for him.”

LITTLE LOL “Abby, our dog, hadn’t seen us for a few days (she stayed with my now father in law in the lead up) so when it was her turn to come up as ring bearer she totally crashed the ceremony, sat on my train and wouldn’t budge. She was SO excited I was checking if she had peed on my dress in the middle of the ceremony.”

WE’RE GLAD WE “I am so glad I made a list of the things that were most important to us and our guests experience when I first started planning. I could allocate and prioritise the budget accordingly as well as planning the run sheet based on this.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Lilli from I Got You Babe Photography was such a formidable talent. Honestly, her calm vibe was essential on the day and the results speak for themselves. I knew she would absolutely nail it and she totally did. Her images are incredibly natural, romantic and journalistic. It feels like you are reliving the moments because she captured the depth of feeling and personalities so accurately.”
