These two have a seriously cute story, folks. “We were initially together when we were 16 (high school sweethearts) and were lucky enough to find each other again three years ago,” explains the bride, who wore a Jane Hill number from our go-to Sunshine Coast bridal boutique, Sphere Collective. “Although it feels like we were never apart,” she adds. THE VIBE “We really wanted it to be a relaxed and chilled vibe. Pier 33 Mooloolaba was the best place to do this. We fell in love with it immediately just from the photos. In a way, we were going for a tropical luxe Hamptons theme and we just wanted to ensure that everyone had the opportunity to kick back, relax and enjoy the day.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “I absolutely loved my flowers. When they dropped the flowers off to my room, I started crying. I left my flowers in the very capable hands with Nat and Penny from Heavenly Blooms and was blown away with how much they knew me without me even saying the flowers I wanted! We were also very impressed by the amazing job our close friends Penny and Lauren did with the grazing table they created. It was something we had numerous comments on and still do to this day.”
DIY… “We bought the wedding favours from Kmart which already had a pre-glued sticker on them. After many hours of soaking each candle (all 135 of them) in water to remove that sticker, we then stuck on our personalised sticker from Etsy and tied around the tops with twine. We ended up with some leftover and are still using them today.”
THE DRESS “It was actually the second dress I ended up purchasing. When I first went dress shopping it was quite daunting and I ended up just purchasing the first dress I tried on. After realising it wasn’t for me – a friend introduced me to Sarah from Sphere Collective who made me feel so comfortable and let me try on a range of different dresses until I found the one. Turns out I hadn’t even pulled out the dress I ended up wearing but Sarah was adamant I try it on. She was amazing.”
LITTLE LOL “There were a few funny moments. The one that takes the cake, however, was when Nicole (bridesmaid) was swooped by a magpie mid-ceremony. When I also couldn’t get Ryans ring on, forgetting that there were 135 people watching, I spat on his finger and when that didn’t work, I licked it so I could slide it on…whoops! And as much as we didn’t enjoy our wedding cake smashed all over our faces (our own fault) it was the only chance we got to it the cake as it was so delicious there was none left for us!”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Didn’t opt for the long tables and didn’t have a seating plan at all. It made it so easy and everyone got to mingle as they wished and if they wanted to sit down, we had plenty of picnic tables, couches and dry bars to choose from. We are also really grateful that Pier 33 Mooloolaba allowed us to have our pups in the ceremony. They are a huge part of our lives and it wouldn’t have been the same without celebrating with them too! ”
