We’re not sure about you guys, but we can literally feel the love leaping out of the pages from these two. Held at Moby Dicks, on Sydney’s Whale Beach, this couple credit marriage as “the ability to see the sunshine in each other’s storm clouds. The framework for the home we create together.” Too sappy? Never! That home already includes their gorgeous toddler “who lights up our days,” and is having a good ole time at his parents’ wedding, if you ask us! THE VENUE “We were originally thinking an SA vineyards wedding (where Skye is from) or a Byron wedding, but then saw a couple of the Boathouse group rooms and their styling and general vibe was exactly what we were after, not to mention the brilliant wine list that completely captured the SA wines that we were looking at anyway! Two birds with one stone!”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “Our favourite part would be the table centrepieces. My sister and I made a visit (first-time-and-very-overwhelming) to the flower markets a few days before the wedding, leaving with the car overflowing with exquisite cargo of peonies, hydrangeas and amaranths! The night before the wedding, the champagne was flowing and we spent a few hours flower arranging together. Then the nine precious vases were marched down the hill to the venue one-by-one by Skye’s brother, sister, and their partners on the morning of the wedding!”
THE DRESS “My dress was from a relatively new Australian designer at the time, Lola Varma. They were in their first collection when I came across them and had the beautiful and simple aesthetic that I was after with stunning fabrics. They did a pop-up in Melbourne and my sister and I had a little winter weekend down there to check them out. Needless to say, the hour-long appointment I had in their pop-up was spent trying on only the skirt and top combination that I ended up going with. The movement of the skirt was incredible, it is so heavy but moves in a timeless and elegant way – I spent much of my wedding day twirling!”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “Walking down the aisle with my parents, I couldn’t take my eyes from Nick and our son, both were smiling the widest smiles I’ve ever seen and everything and everyone else were just a blur at that point. I just wanted to be next to my little family!”
WE’RE GLAD WE “Got married and had a wedding party! We were never planning to get married, and when we did decide to, we seriously considered eloping. So glad that we instead chose to celebrate with fab food, wine and dancing. Much more fun and involving everyone we love in that celebration is certainly something to cherish.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Ona Janzen of Whisper. was incredible. I wanted to be comfortable given how much time you spend with a photographer on your wedding day. It was an immediate and easy decision, she is a grounded and beautiful soul and her work is just stunning. She made us all feel at ease throughout the day, you will never have a day filled with so many portraits, and we couldn’t be happier with the images she produced. She has gone above and beyond, also delivering an image compilation of the day to music and a selection of printed photographs when she delivered the images to us. Moby Dicks was also exceptional and delivered a day that was seamless. I didn’t have to lift a finger on the day, our gorgeous coordinator Anna was always one step ahead and I honestly couldn’t fault it.”
