A self-proclaimed “success story from Kings Cross nightlife” these two have been together for nine years and counting, got engaged while hiking the Three Cakes in Hobart, and did their wedding differently. How? Their new take saw different guests invited to each part of the day and the bride and groom arrived at the ceremony together. You can read all about it below. Plus check out the styling from the incredible Upside Down Events and peruse all the pics from one of our faves, Gui Jorge…
THE VIBES “We divided our day into two parts. Our ceremony was kept small with family and a couple of our friends attending. The second part of our day was the reception. Our extended family went home and we invited mainly friends with our immediate family. This part of the night centered around having a fun dance floor and creating a party atmosphere filled with disco balls and colour. The music was key to having a fun reception and I think we nailed it with Rein of Choir as they really set the tone early so that guests could let their hair down and enjoy the night.”
FAVE DEETS “Josh and I arrived at the ceremony together before all the guests arrived. Being there from the start meant that I didn’t miss out on any part of the day and I had plenty of time to talk to everyone before and after the ceremony. I felt like I had a decent conversation with every guest that I invited.”
THE DRESS “I loved the simplicity of the Lucia top and skirt set from KYHA. I knew it was for me the minute I tried it on and was the only ‘gown’ I had tried. While I was there I also found my reception dress, a sequin mini. Our theme for the reception was formal with a sparkle and I knew the KYHA Young at Hearts dress would be perfect for this.”
REFERENCES “We found most of the vendors through Instagram, recommendations from other vendors, or through wedding blogs such as Hello May.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Our photographer, Gui Jorge was sensational. He was so easygoing, friendly, and fun, but with incredible professionalism. He made us feel so comfortable and at ease from the start. He captured so many beautiful moments from the day. Sara Holt, our celebrant, put in an incredible effort and amount of time to get to know us so that she could create a ceremony that truly reflected our personalities. I have never received better customer service than at Olio Kensington St. Their event team was so proactive and responsive and they went above and beyond to ensure our day was special. Everyone who works there was so accommodating. And Cass Azar Makeup was so calm and flexible. She did a terrific job creating a makeup look that I was comfortable with and brought so much positivity to the day.”
