For florist and composer, Lu and Rich, their big day was themed around “star-crossed lovers”- a reflection of how they feel about each other, and the Byron Bay sky- proving to be the perfect setting for their wedding. Every bit as dreamy as it sounds, the day was brought together by The Story of Us and photographed by one of our fave photographers, Janneke Storm with a few of our fave vendors along for the ride including Le Rose robes, The White Tree band, Sperry Tents and hair and makeup artists The Future Mrs

THE VENUE Byron is so special to us, and we never wanted our guests to have to get around from venue-to-venue, so Forget Me Not was perfect. It just had a feeling about it when we first arrived to view the property. My sister is the creative director of The Story of Us so I literally didn’t have to do a thing expect say when I liked something!

THE THEME The theme was star-crossed lovers, because that’s how we feel about each other, but also because the Byron sky is always lit up with beautiful constellations. It was all just written in the stars. I also love interesting, underrated plants, particularly cactus and dried natives, so we went for a star-crossed, desert vibe in pallet and design.

THE DRESS I found One Day Bridal on Instagram, so my Mum and I flew down to Melbourne for an appointment and instantly fell in love with my dress and the whole experience.

MEMORABLE MOMENT I actually rapped my wedding speech. The band backed me up. No one knew I was going to do it and it made Rich’s whole day!

STANDOUT VENDORS The Story of Us designed and curated this wedding top-to-toe. They helped me arrive at a theme and saw that theme through every element of creative for the day- it showed in all the little details. Also, the food was sensational, and we’re big foodies with high expectations. Picking the florist was the hardest, because obviously I live and breathe flowers everyday, but didn’t want to do my own wedding. I did consider it for one, dumb minute, but when I met with Bower Botanicals, we were quickly finishing each others sentences.

LITTLE LOL I sat on a red rose petal and it stained my dress- right where a period stain would be! My bridesmaids got it out with Windex!

A WORD OF ADVICE If you can, hire a wedding planner. It just made the whole process so enjoyable and exciting and I never had to feel stressed!
