Let us introduce lovely ladies Lisa and Melissa, friends. Their nuptials meant saying ‘yes’ forever “to a sneaky gin on a school night, mastering making fresh pasta together, continuing to travel the world and never go to bed angry. We have loved each other every single day for the four years prior to our wedding day and will continue to love each other until our last day together.” Warm and fuzzy feels all around, eh? Jess & Dylan from Lilac In Hand Photography and Sam from Lightwise Cinematography were there to capture the girls’ big day and now come with rave reviews. THE VENUE “We arranged a meeting with Plant 4 Third Street Bowden and booked the venue the next day. Our hunt for the perfect ceremony location was a little harder. As we were getting married in May, we wanted a venue that had an indoor contingency plan but would still capture the sophisticated, jewel-toned theme/mood that we wanted our day to encompass. When we looked at Carclew it wasn’t available on our chosen date, however, the couple cancelled their booking and the rest is history.”
THE INSPO “We set our day around jewel tones. We had this theme for our engagement party and then continued it through to our wedding. We saw a spread in a wedding magazine incorporating these tones and colours and we both immediately agreed that this was what we wanted for both events. We never looked back from here. It was sophisticated, incorporated metallics and complemented our white and black dresses.”
FAVE DETAILS “We loved our wedding dress experience with Greta Kate. It was fun doing it together as we are each others best friends. We couldn’t imagine doing it without each other and it was nice to experience it together. She put the idea in our heads for one of us to wear a black dress and the other white. It was a wonderful way to surprise our guests and Greta did an amazing job ensuring that our gowns complemented each other. [She] was such a dream to work with, extremely professional and made us feel comfortable. Our jewel themed flowers (by Stems Designs)were a standout at the ceremony and reception venues.”
DIY “We had some friends and family who created all the stationary, flower cones and our stunning wedding cake for us.”
MEMORABLE MOMENTS “We both spent the morning of the wedding together, getting ready with our bridal party, enjoying delicious breakfast boards provided by our caterer, Jessie Spiby. The mood was relaxed, fun and exciting. We were lucky that our airbnb was multi storey, so [we] got ready downstairs and upstairs and we spent this time away from each other until our first look as we both came around the corners at Carclew. Seeing each other for the first time and walking down the aisle together was very special.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Don’t be afraid to speak up to your vendors if you aren’t happy. You pay them a lot of money to make your day as magical as possible, it is your day not theirs.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Provided our guests with drinks and grazing boards to enjoy while playing some lawn games between the end of ceremony and commencement of the reception. They got to mingle with us in the sunshine, have fun and it gave us another window to get around to everyone to have a chat. It sounds cliché but our wedding day was magical and a perfect reflection of us. We did what we wanted to do and weren’t influenced by social media and society’s expectation of what a wedding should be. We wouldn’t change a thing, it was sophisticated perfection in our eyes and everything we ever wanted.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Both our photographers and videographer were insane. Both Jess & Dylan from Lilac In Hand Photography and Sam from Lightwise Cinematography made us feel completely comfortable, made the day fun and produced photos and videos that made us completely speechless. Most of the time we didn’t even know they were there, so they were able to capture some very special moments. Alix The Celebrant was a dream to work with. We clicked with her instantly, nothing was ever too difficult and she wholeheartedly captured us and our relationship perfectly.
