We have been together for about five years after Rhett did the romantic thing of sliding into the DM’s in 2015,” says Kerry, who wore a

Grace Loves Lace gown on the day. Then there was the proposal, which is pretty darn cute, too. “We drove to our block that we had just purchased together and a place where we would build our very first home.” The wedding was all pretty much a Plan B, organised the night before the nuptials. Bet you wouldn’t have thought that, huh? And lucky for us, and the happy couple, it seems,

James Simmons Photography caught it all on camera, so scroll down, stat.

LITTLE LOL “The day before our wedding we had made our way to the venue, loaded the drinks into fridges and got things ready for the big day. We were beyond excited to get married and made our way to afternoon drinks with our family and bridal party. On the drive there, I looked over at Rhett, his face as white as a ghost and here I was thinking he was about to do a runaway groom. He looked at me and said ‘KJ, don’t stress but I have just heard there was a bushfire near our venue’. I turned to him and said ‘Well what is our Plan B?’. Rhett said it was fine and there was no need for a Plan B… but boy did we need a plan B and STAT. We continued our celebrations the night before the wedding. It wasn’t until 9 pm my sister in law and dead set life saviour, amazing human (the list goes on) had been working behind the scenes to organise this much-needed plan B! A guru in all things photography and weddings, (and life in general) she literally saved the day, scoring the most incredible venue that was far better than anything we could have imagined. She contacted all the vendors and guests, organising the entire day in under fifteen hours. It was beyond epic. It was the best day ever.”

THE VENUE “This decision got taken out of our hands but the legends at Assembly Yard offered to open up their amazing venue at the last minute. It was honestly better than any other venue we had seen in the lead up to the wedding and perfect for the vibe we were chasing. The idea of not seeing your wedding venue before walking down the aisle may seem crazy but I wouldn’t have it any other way. The feeling was indescribable and something we will cherish forever.”

FAVE DETAILSThe crew at Fox and Rabbit seriously delivered on the day, the flowers were incredible! When they asked me what we wanted I told them to do their thing and surprise me. When I walked into the venue I was completely blown away with what they had done, it was insane.”

THE DRESSI was never really one to be fussed on the dress and to be honest hate wearing dresses at the best of times. I had gone to the Grace Loves Lace pop up store in Perth and was chasing something comfortable that I could wear my sneakers with! I loved the experience, it was fun and personal (plus they give you champers and who doesn’t like that?). I walked away with the most beautiful and comfortable dress, it was perfect for our day.”

MARRIAGE MEANS… “Getting to spend the rest of your days with your best friend. It’s pretty bloody rad.

A WORD OF ADVICE “Trust your vendors. They know what they are doing more than you do!”

STANDOUT VENDORSJames Simmons Photography and Dani Power of Clover. were standouts for us. Having our photos taken with them was a highlight of our day. They created the most relaxed environment for us, one that was filled with fun and laughter where we could completely be ourselves. The content they produced speaks for itself and our day would never have been what it was without them.”
