When we asked this gorgeous couple what marriage means to them, their answer was a cracker! “Netflix and chill literally means Netflix and chill. Lol.” With an added bonus of “never having to go on a first date again!” Another bonus? They got married at the charming historical venue Churchill, where they could do everything on site, in a beautiful European-style location. THE PROPOSAL “Dan popped the question in the same place we met- the Swan Brewery in Perth. It was very cute- he had our best friends hide at the end of the jetty and release our dog, who had a card around her neck asking if ‘mummy would marry daddy.’ Haha we are kinda lame like that!”

THE VENUE “Churchill was the first venue we saw. As soon as we met Vanessa (of Prunella, who owns the venue) and saw the church, we fell in love. It has true soul. We also loved how many different spaces the grounds offered. We were able to have our ceremony, drinks, canapés and a formal, sit-down dinner, all in the one spot. THE VIBE “We wanted our wedding to be intimate- a really special day for us and our nearest and dearest. We had the amazing team from Prunella design a circular floral centrepiece for our ceremony so we could be enveloped by our loved ones. Dinner was by candlelight and the whole venue was dressed in the most beautiful roses.”

THE DRESS “Our wedding was black tie, so I wanted a dress that had a little drama to match. Pallas Couture created a dress that didn’t disappoint! I had detachable ‘bridal wings’ instead of a veil and a full-length train. The team were absolutely amazing. Every fitting was a special experience and ran seamlessly. The ladies have exceptional attention to detail and went to great lengths to make what could be an overwhelming process, stress-free and simple. I loved everything about my dress! It was beyond anything I could have envisioned.”

REFERENCES “Prunella were fantastic at recommending trusted vendors, however we found a lot through Instagram. It allows you to get a really good insight into your vendor’s work- beyond what is featured on their website.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Invested in key vendors. We hired a sax player from Rutherford Entertainment for the last two hours of the reception. He played along with the DJ and had the most amazing set. Even though our wedding was small, the atmosphere was incredible and everyone was on the dance floor. We are so glad we invested in our entertainment- it really made the night!”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Special mention to Vanessa and Caris from Prunella. They instantly understood our vision and were so flexible. They made the event planning incredibly easy, the venue on the day was spectacular and everything ran so smoothly. We absolutely loved working with Lucy and Alastair of She Takes Pictures He Makes Films– they were seriously the dream photo/video team! It felt like having our friends around us capturing our day! They made us laugh and feel really comfortable. Dan and I are both camera shy, but honestly, I don’t think you would be able to tell from the incredible moments Lucy and Alastair were able to capture. We loved seeing our special day through their very talented eyes! Lastly, our celebrant, Anthony Cribbes was hilarious. We had so much fun chatting to him and planning our ceremony. It felt like we had known him for years.”
