You already know that here at Hello May, we’re all about real couples – that raw, natural love is what keeps us going. So obviously when we stumbled upon these shots from Julie and Sanj’s Sydney wedding, held at Mosman’s Gunners Barracks, we were totally in awe of the chemistry between these two.
“Our photographer John Benavente was just amazing. We were so comfortable with him and the photos he captured were very candid and natural,” explains Julie, who wore a preloved Inbal Dror gown from Preowned Wedding Dresses and Honey Birdette lingerie.
Both doctors, these two clever cookies were super organised in planning their big day utilising Google Sheets and having one of their best buds from med school officiate the ceremony. “He had been there from the awkward beginnings and had seen the growth of our relationship through the ups and downs of med school. The stories that he told were that much more personal and meaningful.”
This wedding, like most, had a healthy dose of humour too. One of the bridesmaids was under the impression that her dress was just really figure-fitting (and slightly difficult to walk in)… little did she know, it wasn’t a dress at all.
“After dry cleaning her dress, she subsequently found out that she was actually wearing a jumpsuit and had squeezed herself into one pant leg and had the other leg flapping by her side decoratively,” says Julie cheekily. Now that’s a story for the grandchildren.
