Two dresses, three pairs of shoes, three different forms of entertainment (we’re talkin’ a string duo, acoustic performer and five-piece band from Baker Boys Band here, people) meant that this wedding, was indeed, as extra as it sounds. Captured on camera by Ode Studios, scroll down to see it in all its glory. That arbour and hedge combo is what wedding ceremony set up dreams are made of and you won’t want to miss the video at the bottom…

THE VENUEWe took our parents for the day to the Yarra Valley and Coombe Yarra Valley was the first place we visited and everyone absolutely adored it from the moment we arrived. It has both an amazing history, balanced with modern architecture (the roof in the restaurant!), beautiful food and wine (very important) and of course the stunning grounds and gardens. We loved the fact that we could have our ceremony, drinks and reception all in the one location – not to mention the staff were so wonderful to deal with.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “I loved our arbour that Sugar Bee Flowers created – it looked pretty spectacular against the green hedge of Coombes gardens. Also, so many people raved about our cake from Sweet Bakes. I only managed to try a tiny bit of one of the flavours and Conal didn’t get any (we were too busy dancing!) but everybody who did, told me how good it was- and every little bit went which is always a good sign!”

THE DRESSJason Grech made my dress and I just adored the whole experience. It was made from metres of Italian silk that was light as air to wear and the bodice was lace with thousands of tiny matt pearl beads. I wanted something that was classic, but not too over the top and that I could look back on in 10/20 years and still adore! I also loved my super long veil. For my reception, I changed into an Alex Perry dress for dancing!”

CUTE CUSTOM Conal wore his uncle Mark’s pocket watch which is a family heirloom. He, unfortunately, passed away from MS and we honoured his memory by donating to MS Australia on behalf of our guests instead of traditional favours. We also had a very close family friend pass from pancreatic cancer and again we donated to the Pancare Foundation to honour her memory.”

A WORD OF ADVICEBeing decisive and organised and locking in all your suppliers asap also helps. We had an extensive spreadsheet going on and had timelines/ budgeted for everything!”

STANDOUT VENDORSEveryone we worked with was pretty amazing, Georgia Scott from Coombe Yarra Valley was amazing on the day, we loved our photographer Ash of Ode Studios who made us feel very relaxed and at ease and also Jason Grech who was just a joy to work with.”
