Jane and Hugo’s big day was originally planned for April but COVID, of course, had other plans. Keen to crack on, the couple share, “We felt like COVID was forcing us to put our life on hold, but really, the decision to move forward was up to us”. Cue this low-key, loved-up garden party. With a team of dedicated vendors behind them, including some of our all-time faves (hey hey Jacqua Celebrant, Grew & Co and Maple and June), Jane and Hugo were able to shine a bit of light into 2020. THE VENUE “We had originally booked a venue in the Botanic Gardens, but when Covid hit and our plans changed we wanted a one-stop-shop, somewhere that could house our whole family comfortably for a whole weekend without having to stress about travelling to and fro. We love Bowral and thought it was perfect for the time of year. Janet at The Rift was so accommodating and helpful and all of the props and furniture were already at the venue.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “The beautiful bunch of simple roses by my sister, who is a florist. Originally I wanted a big bunch of menta roses (lilac grey) but because of COVID, they weren’t importing them. We went to the flower markets the day before and picked these beautiful toffee roses which ended up being so perfect for the setting.”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “Being able to have both our families together for a whole weekend of celebrations was pretty special, especially given Hugo’s family don’t live in Sydney. We all got to hang out, eat, drink, be merry and play lots of vicious card games. It was a really great bonding weekend for everyone.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “We are so glad we decided to trust our gut and re-plan our wedding when the ban lifted from 5 to 20. Hugo and I made a promise that if the ban lifted to allow our immediate family to attend, we would do it because the future was too unknown regarding a second wave etc.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Honestly, all of our vendors were so amazing and responsive given the time frame we organised it in (2 weeks!). Zoe [Maple and June] was the most amazing photographer. For two people who are very awkward in front of the camera she was an absolute breeze of a human.”
