Fitzroy Town Hall was full to the brim with love the day Grace and P got hitched at this iconic Melbourne wedding venue. Aside from getting married, their goal was to “just make this the best party ever”, which they did by strategically focusing attention on music, food and drinks — “the holy trinity of a good time”, as the newlyweds describe. “We were lucky that the venue was so ornate,” they add, “so we didn’t have to focus much energy on improving the already ornate and colourful vibes.”

Below, a glimpse into their wedding album, so magically captured by Melbourne-based Georgia Verrells, the blue and burgundy wedding styling inspo, and the Chinese buffet that went down a treat.

Finding Fitzroy Town Hall for Their Melbourne Wedding

“My mum was really keen on the Fitzroy Town Hall. She took us to see it and it was the first venue we’d seen. Much to our surprise, it turns out she had booked the venue prior to our seeing it, JUST in case we loved it. Very MOBzilla behaviour — so good thing we loved it!”

Blue & Burgundy Wedding Styling and a Modern, Artistic Wedding Cake

“The cake, lovingly made by friend Fatima, was so perfect! I gave Fatima a very loose brief of colourful and different, and she whipped together a masterpiece that I could only have dreamt of! It was so beautiful and angular, the florals were a stroke of genius and tasted even better. I also loved the blue napkins against the cream and burgundy tablecloths — the perfect through line to bring everything together.”

Guests Are Still Raving About…

“The food! The Chinese buffet was a stroke of genius if I do say so myself. The guests are still talking about it.”

The Dance Floor Taking Requests

“The dance floor is always my favourite part of any party, and it was no different at my wedding! DJ Rich executed our playlist perfectly, and brought with him a bunch of records on vinyl that fit with that energy, and allowed our guests to look through and pick a song or two for him to spin! Such a fun touch.”

Delegate, Delegate, Delegate

“Lean on your support system and take people up on their offers to help – delegate, delegate, delegate. Especially if you are going the DIY route. It can become a behemoth task, even if you’re trying to be chill about it!”

A Standout Melbourne Wedding Photographer

“Our photographer Georgia Verrells was one of the best choices we made. We knew by the style of photos on her website that the photos were going to be full of personality and beautifully framed and coloured, but Georgia’s fun and calming nature was key to making us and everyone at the wedding feel comfortable and relaxed when their photo was taken. She knew all the tricks to kindly corral people to where they needed to be, and made sure we got all the pictures we told her we wanted and those we didn’t know we wanted, but absolutely did! Georgia is the person to book if you want a seamless process and timeless, personal and thoughtful wedding album.”
