Fabiana and Alexander (aka Fabs and Alex) wed with a Sydney-city shindig lovingly dubbed “The Big Dance”. “All we wanted was to celebrate our love with our favourite people in the best way we know how. A party where people would dance until the sun came up,” shared the duo, who said ‘I do’ under a disco ball altar.
Featuring a Portuguese tart tower, custom beer coaster-style invites and some seriously rock star-worthy ensembles, this bride and groom say with pride, that it was “all sorts of weird and all very much us.”

VENUE IN SYDNEY’S INNER WEST
“It was a no brainer for me. I was born in Madeira, Portugal. I have also been going to raves at the Portugal Madeira Club for the past 10 years. I didn’t look at one other venue. It was perfect. Who else can say they threw a rave in a car park for their wedding?”
UNIQUE WEDDING INVITATIONS
“I loved our invites so much. They were beer coasters, done in the theme of Alex’s favourite beer ‘Reshes’. That became the branding that went across everything. I have the most amazing creative friends who helped in any way they could. My flowers/my decorations/set up. The love we felt that day was in every touch point of the wedding. We both feel so incredibly lucky to have such beautiful friends.”
WEDDING VOWS TO REMEMBER
“I don’t know how I could pick one… I think maybe that first moment of coming out and seeing everyone there and Alex waiting for me. That gives me so much joy as just that image in my head. Also Alex’s vows. He isn’t big on the words but his vows were incredible. We actually had a rule about no phones out. But my mother being my mother, ignored it and did a sneaky one and filmed his vows, and I am so glad she did. I watch them all the time.”
CUSTOM BRIDAL MINI DRESS
“Brit Day is so talented. My experience with her was so, so special. My dress was custom and every step of the way she was there to guide me. Funnily enough I found Brit eight years ago selling festival outfits in Glebe Markets. She announced her bridal line the same month I was engaged! Her collection is about to launch and I was so lucky to get a sneak peak as I went in for fittings. I will renew my vows just so I can get another dress from Brit.”
THE SUIT “Alex always wanted a Reigner suit and what better excuse than your wedding day? He mentioned them the day he proposed. Pretty sure he was thinking about what he was going to wear more than I was.”
WE’RE GLAD WE…
“… Did the wedding. We were going to run away to Vegas at one point and I am so so so glad we didn’t. A wedding is the only time all the people you both love will be in the same place celebrating. It’s just such a magical feeling.”
