For this cute as couple, the bride reveals, “growing with each other has been my favourite adventure so far.” What an answer! Add the fact that the bride has worked in the wedding industry for years as a hairdresser, and we were expecting one epic wedding… Which is exactly what we got! “I knew exactly who I wanted to [help] create our perfect day,” she explains. “It was so much fun knowing everyone involved- it just made the day even more special!” One of those super-talented vendors was photographer and cinematographer, Joseph Willis, so scroll down for all of his work…

THE VIBE “Our theme was quite moody with the florals and I wanted HUGE botanical installations so that it really felt like you were in an orchard wherever you were. We wanted the vibe to be just a group of our closest and dearest friends having a celebration with the yummiest food and wine!”

THE VENUE “Being in the industry myself I had looked and worked at SO many venues. And I am SUCH a perfectionist! We probably had 15 viewings in the two years before we found The Orchard Estate. We were actually the first bride and groom to book the Orchard! It was literally a concrete slab when we saw it! I fell in love with the view and to be honest just the driveway with the rows of macadamia trees won me over instantly. Anton and Kristine’s vision for the Orchard were exactly what we were looking for- a complete blank canvas to create whatever you dream of in an idyllic location, they wanted the surrounds to speak for themselves and love the fact that every wedding held there is unique to each bride and groom.”

FAVOURITE DETAIL “It is really hard as I loved every small detail! The placards and menus were out of this world! Hand gold calligraphy. The video of Louise of Wedding Paper Divas doing them is completely mesmerising. The botanical installations were amazing as well. I love that they creep into every photo. The HUGE floral urn installations that Rebecca (Rose Apple Flowers) did were so breathtakingly beautiful as well.”

THE DRESS “Oh my goodness the dress! I was searching high and low for the perfect dress for me. I wanted something timeless, romantic and ethereal but also something totally unique to me. I had worked at a wedding before where the bride’s dress was made by Casey Tanswell Designs and the material and detail was second to none. It was as if I were a wedding dress it is exactly what I would be. Then the veil! Oh gosh, it was all just so fun! I wish I was a millionaire to have her design and make my whole wardrobe haha! The whole process took around seven months. As soon as I met with her I felt completely at ease and trusted that she was the person to make my dream come to life. It was truly the most magical and exciting experience of my life. Meeting with Casey was the funnest party of my wedding and I really wish that every bride could experience that!”

LITTLE LOL “One word… TEQUILA! We had organised so much alcohol that we could have had another wedding. We WAY overcompensated on the amount of alcohol needed and may have needed to hire a van to transport the alcohol from the Gold Coast to Byron haha! Needless to say, there were a lot of funny stories! From terrible dancing, to (I must admit) myself “rapping” to Ja Rule… with a microphone. I may never be able to listen to Ja Rule again without getting as red as a tomato.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Amy, my coordinator (The Events Co) worked from Thursday through to the Sunday putting the botanical installations up and taking them down. That would have been such a big job! Also, Bec, of Rose Apple Flowers was amazing. The flowers were created in the exact moody, wild bouquets I dreamt of. Joseph Willis– how he manages to capture all of those special moments when you don’t even know he is there truly amazes me! I am so glad we chose the best photographer and videographer. He captured all the candid moments of the day- after all that is all that you have left. I also have not heard anything but ‘the food was the best food I have eaten… ever,’ so Monique from Seaweed Cuisine and her staff were amazing!”
