We’d happily sit down with this couple and share a drink or two (and probably a few good laughs). Why? “In all honesty, I prioritised finding our cat (Nacho) a tuxedo long before I even considered looking for a dress,” explains the bride, who wore a gorgeous gown from Amante Bridal. “The wedding day was an elaborate scheme for me to have a photoshoot with our cat.” I mean, if that doesn’t get you in, we don’t know what will! Add into the mix that the wedding was held at one of our fave Melbourne venues, Rupert on Rupert, with a Heartbreak Hotel Photo Booth shot by I Got You Babe Weddings, and we were sold. FAVOURITE DETAILS “Our celebrant, Mimi, Married by Mietta, is an old friend of Will and I and a dead set legend to boot. She is a laugh a minute and the vows were no different- I was laughing and smiling the whole time despite being a nervous nelly. Also, the flowers by Flowers Vasette were utterly beautiful and surpassed anything I could have ever dreamed up.”

THE DRESS “Finding the dress was the thing I was most terrified of! I did hours and hours of google searching whilst eating chips on the couch and finally saw ‘the dress’. It was from Odylyne The Ceremony and their only stockist was at Amante Bridal. The girls who run the store are simply the best, such genuinely lovely people and they went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. My maid of honour/unofficial wedding planner/support person burst into tears when she saw it. Good tears, not ‘JFC that’s hideous’ tears.”

REFERENCES “I bought every copy of Hello May I could find to do preliminary research and find out what all the cool kids were doing.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Take your time, don’t get caught up in minor details- like napkins. It is about you and your people having a wonderful love party and celebrating finding each other in a world of dickheads.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “A good friend gave us some excellent advice. Take a moment to sit down together during the day and take it all in. And we did. Sitting there watching all of the excellent people we love under one roof, happily dancing and laughing made us both feel like the luckiest.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “The event coordinator at Rupert, Mali, is so lovely and made the entire process feel easy. She knew exactly what we wanted from the get-go and completely nailed it! All the staff working there are terrific people. The boys from Heartbreak Hotel Photo Booth were excellent and the wedding would not have been anywhere near as fun and silly without them. The photos were absolutely brilliant and our guests had a ball. Last but not least, our photographer Lilli of I Got You Babe Weddings. We had admired her documentary-style of photography and she did not disappoint. How do you make a dumpster on our street look good as a backdrop? Skills, that’s how. And she’s lovely. With nice hair. What a dreamboat.”
