CHLOE & JUSTIN’S MORNINGTON PENSINSULA WEDDING

The moment Justin pitched doing a puzzle over dinner, Chloe clued onto his proposal plans. This groom-to-be had purchased a custom puzzle design, which featured their fur-baby Sammy and, of course, the big question (cute!). “It was so nice to see how nervous he was and how he’d made a big plan for us to have this special moment together.”

The high school sweethearts got hitched in the Mornington Peninsula with muso duo Hendrix (from our friends at ‘Hey Jack’) soundtracking the day’s relaxed tone. For these lovers-of-colour there was no shying away from incorporating plenty of happy hues like the wow-worthy blooms or bright bridesmaids’ frocks from the likes of Bec + Bridge.

In a feat of multitasking our brains can’t even comprehend, Georgia Verrells captured the day on camera AND Super 8 film (yep, she’s that good!), and we caught up with the happy couple to hear all about it. This one’s got inspo in spades, so scroll on, friends!

LITTLE LOL “As the bride, the funniest part was finding out all the little things nobody told me from the previous days, [like] our dog Sammy jumping in a pond on the wedding morning, Justin forgetting to bring his wedding shoes, and, of course, Justin and I [both forgetting] toothbrushes – I think this says how occupied our minds were in the lead-up!”

THE VIBE “We wanted the whole day to have a relaxed vibe, but with huge amounts of colour. I love colour and knew it was going to be a big part of the day. We wanted our guests to feel like they were coming to a big party with us, and we wanted to make sure that the whole day was centred around great food, drinks and fun decorations at a great location. As we’re both not great at being the centre of attention, we loved having a bridal party who had as much fun with the day as we did.”

DIY “We undertook some huge DIY projects and really lent on our family and friends to help us. We handmade the welcome and seating charts. The name cards, table numbers and drink signage were also handmade by us. We created a big crossword for guests to complete during drinks hour. Our biggest DIY was definitely the streamers above the dance floor. Each one took about three hours to complete, and we had 11 of them! Overall, having all the DIY aspects allowed us to customise our day to exactly what we wanted, and our friends and family were amazing at helping us complete them.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “My favourite moments from the day were when Chloe got to me at the end of the aisle and we were together again. I had been nervous up until that point, but as soon as she was there, that all faded. Other good moments were when we got to take 10 minutes on our own after everything ‘formal’ was finished; all the pressure was off, and we could just take it in by ourselves.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Had our beautiful dog, Sammy, with us for the ceremony and reception. She’s such a big part of our life that not having her there would have felt like something was missing.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “All of our vendors were amazing, but there are a few we definitely need to shout out. Georgia, our photographer, made it so effortless. She took such stunning photos without taking us away from the party for long at all and was able to do vintage Super 8 film at the same time.”
